Hey everyone here is another story for the Retun of the Chocolate Frog Cards. This is for (Bronze) Patrick Delaney-Podmore and the task was to reference the headless hunt in the story. I can totally see Hermione standing up for Nearly Headless Nick like this. I hope you all enjoy Ghost Troubles.

I was walking down the hallway to Defense Against the Dark Arts when I heard a whispered conversation between two of the Hogwarts ghosts. I knew the one voice was that the Gryffindor ghost, Nearly Headless Nick, but the other voice wasn't so familiar to me. They seemed to be having a very heated argument about something or other. I leaned closer against the pillar I was hiding behind to listen in.

"But you said you'd make an exception for me this one time," Nick was stating vehemently.

"The headless hunt doesn't make any exception for anyone, Nick, old boy," the other voice said, the one I didn't know very well.

"It is not my fault that they botched the job. Or didn't finish the job whichever way you want to look at it. I'm am just as headless as the rest of you blockheads. I deserve a chance to partake in the hunt as anyone."

"But, sir, you are not headless. Your head is still somewhat attached to your neck. You can not..."

I was beginning to get really annoyed with this person. Or ghost I should say. I knew someone had take a stand on Nearly Headless Nick's behalf so I stepped out behind the pillar I was hiding behind.

"Why don't you hear him out?" I asked looking through the visage of Sir Patrick Delaney-Podmore. "It would be the fair thing to do."

"Miss Granger," he replied as though I was something tiresome and bothering, "you being still alive and still having a head would not understand what it means to let someone who was still, even though slightly, attached to their head in the headless hunt. It can not be done. Or else any of the other ghosts will come and ask an invite."

I gave him a look of pure disgust. "No they wouldn't," I replied let the disgust show in my voice. "The name of the hunt in itself shows that any of the others couldn't partake in it. But it's not fair to punish Nick for not having his head all the way off."

"He will not be allowed to join," was the curt reply. "And I will hear no more on the subject from either of you." With that said Sir Patrick floated away from us.

I turned to Nearly Headless Nick with a sad smile. "I'm sorry he wouldn't let you join the hunt this year, Nick," I told him. "But we can try to convince him again next year."

"Thank you, Miss Granger for at least trying," Nearly Headless Nick said and then floated off to sulk over not being in the hunt this year.

I hope you all enjoyed Ghost Troubles. Like I said before I can totally see Hermione standing up for Nearly Headless Nick like this. And I can see them doing this again the year after this.
