A/N: Thought I'd do something post-FANG. This is one of the sloppiest things I've written, but I thought it suited Max well enough.
So yeah, these are ten letters Max wrote to Fang. Derp yeah.
001. I think when the whitecoats created us, they made a deal with the Devil. I can see the conversation now.
"So, you want these kids to have wings?"
"Yeah, we do. Can you help us, Satan? Genetic research is too much effort."
"Sure, of course. Just hand over their souls and any chances of happiness and we have a deal."
It would explain a lot.
Like the whole School episode. Jeb's betrayal. Erasers. Ari's death. Mom being kidnapped. Desert rat.
You.
002. The little bits of calm in our lives, – the E house, our flock, our relationship – made the happiness so much more painful when ripped away.
At the School we were miserable, but once he had a taste of freedom we knew we could never, ever go back to it.
Once we had a dad we knew what it was like to be taken care of. When we discovered TV we could say goodbye to playing with sticks. When we kissed I knew there was no way I could ever stop wanting that feeling again.
I wish I could forget your kisses. It would be so much easier to pretend that you never happened.
Who am I kidding? I'll never, ever forget you.
003. You knew what you were doing when you kissed me. You changed our relationship completely, for better and worse. And if you remember correctly, you came onto me. That means that you wanted me, that means you trusted me to not hurt you.
If you wanted me, why did you just throw me away again after you were done?
Don't come back. I might just kill you on sight.
004. I miss your voice.
005. I told you that I loved you so many times. When we were at the School. That time I was high . On lazy nights in the E-house when we were saying goodnight.
I wish I could take it back, now. I really wish that I could, because you're an idiot. Seriously, don't have kids; we don't want your stupidity to be the disease to wipe out humanity.
You should've known what you were doing, honestly. You ripped a family apart.
We need you. You need us. We've been together forever. We're one, we're whole, we're everything with each other.
But nooooo, to you that doesn't matter, because you're a selfish jackass.
006. Angel cries over you. She knows that she shouldn't – you're the one that left us, after all – but she misses you and your steady presence and your calm attitude. We all miss you. Nudge is quiet. Gazzy doesn't make bombs. Iggy only cooks when absolutely necessary.
There's uneasy quiet where you're supposed to be. There's this void in the flock now and no-one knows how to patch it up. Dylan's trying his hardest to keep us together, but it's you that we need.
007. I hate you.
008. Twenty years, twenty years?
What is this, some bad soap opera? Really, Fang. You're such a drama queen.
… Wait, you're not. Calling someone a drama queen would mean that they're being funny. You're just being selfish and an asshole, because that's who you are.
An asshole, that is. I would write more words down, but Angel's in the next room. I'm not letting her hear words like that because of you.
009. I love you.
010. When I see you again, I'll castrate you and feed your remains to wild hyenas.
Well, I'm doing that right after I kiss you so hard that your teeth will fall out.
But you get the point. You're a dead man. Don't get too happy with whatever you're doing, because Maximum Ride is out for your blood.
