"Humphrey!" Kate called. The gray wolf bounded over to her, wagging his tail.

"Yes, my love?"

"Can you please watch the kids for the day?"

"Well, I've got things to get done too. Like… tree sledding!"

"That was actually a rhetorical question. You get pup duty."

"But-," He was cut short by her glare. "Fine," he sighed. The three pups were a real pawful. A tiny gray male (Jax) latched onto Humphrey's tail. Then a red brown male (Ronin) pounced on his paw. Out of nowhere, a silver female (Luna) pounced on him. She grabbed his ear.

Kate quickly trotted away before her mate could complain. Soon, Kate was moving at a leisurely lope, giving her legs a good stretch. The melting snows created puddles, and the fresh spring grass was really starting to show. The sky was a clear blue and not a cloud was in sight. Kate approached the sluggish stream and put a paw in. The water was cool, but the sun would warm her. Lily slowly trotted down the hill on the opposite side, raising her tail in greeting. This girls' day was going to be fun. Kate jumped into the water with a SPLASH! Lily padded in more cautiously, then sighed. Kate moved behind her and began rubbing her back with her paws, making slow circles. Kate licked between her sister's ears affectionately, missing hanging out with her. Once Kate had finished getting the dirt off, she turned around. Lily began cleaning her sister, and just for a moment, everything was perfect.
