She had been sitting outside the Hospital Wing for the last 3 hours. Ginny had come and gone, telling her the boys were looking for her and she couldn't distract them for much longer. But Hermione didn't care. She was waiting for him.
Ginny came over for the fifth time and sighed.
"Hermione, you can't stay here forever. The boys are getting suspicious, and you look awful."
Hermione looked at her, her hair everywhere, as she hadn't had time to fix it after the Final Battle, which had happen only hours ago. Of course, Harry had won, and Hermione had given him her congratulations, but when she heard about him, she had sprinted to the Hospital Wing and hadn't moved from her seat. She had practically begged Mme Pomfry to let her see him, but she said no, claiming his state to be one of the worst. All that made her do was want in more.
"Hermione, please. He will be alright, Mme Pomfry said so. And if you stay here any longer, the boys will suspect something's up," said Ginny, her brow creased in worry.
"Suspect what?" said a voice from behind her.
The two girls turned to see Harry and Ron standing there looking better than they had in months of being on the run. And to add to that, after Voldemort had fallen, Harry's scar had disappeared.
"Hermione, what is going on? We've been looking for you for hours, and Ginny here had been no help. And after that conversation, what is going on?" asked Harry.
Ginny looked at Hermione, but she hadn't moved. She remained staring at the wall in front of her with a blank expression on her face. She turned back to the boys.
"Umm, see, Hermione has been going through some rough times-"
"Haven't we all?" interrupted Ron, his face going a little red.
"No, no. It's a little... different than yours or Harry's." She whispered.
Just as Harry was going to open up his mouth, the Hospital doors banged open and Mme Pomfry came rushing out, pushing past Harry and Ron and went right to Hermione. Hermione looked up and her expression total changed. Instead, she had on a face of worry, one matching to that of Mme Pomfry. The two exchanged a few words, Hermione's face growing darker by the second. Ginny, who had been standing next to Hermione, rubbed her back and said a few words. The boys exchanged a look of confusion and turned back to the ladies. Finally, Ron couldn't take it.
"What the bloody hell is going on here?" he demanded.
Mme Pomfry looked at him and said a few more words to Hermione, who shook her head no. She then looked at the boys, shook her own head, sighed and walked away. Ron looked at Hermione and opened his mouth to yell, but his words died in his throat when he heard the yelling of agony in the Wing, and saw Hermione's face crumple and tears start to stream down her face. The yelling got louder and Hermione started to cry. The yelling stopped, and Hermione's cry turned to a whimper. Ginny was right beside her the entire time, but she too had shed a tear.
Harry went forward, a look of pain on his face.
"Hermione," he said softly."Hermione, what's going on?"
