Disclaimer: I do not own Naruto or Vampire Knight
(KANAME'S POV)
"...There has to be some mistake." My... 'Parents' looked at each other quickly before turning back to me. "Im afraid not, son." My father said, placing a hand on my shoulder. "There was an attack, and the Namikaze's did not make it..." I blinked before my mask slid into place. Brushing past the adults, I headed back towards the hidden staircase. Right now I just wanted to be near Yuki. 'I need to make sure not everything I care about has left me.' Just as I was reaching the Bookcase, Juri reached a hand out and placed it on my shoulder and turned me around gently. "You must know that when they found Kushina, she kept crying that 'he' had been taken, and the council did not find a child's body. They still do not know of the other Pureblood child. Naruto could still be alive."
A cruel smile curled my lips, and I could not bring myself to care as my mother figure flinched and took a step back. "I thought you knew their kind better than that, Juri... after all, your best friend is one of them. If they did not kill him already then they are simply holding onto him for torture before they finally put him out of his misery." This seemed to strike a nerve in her, as a light glare formed on her face. "Now hold on just a minute young man. Kaien has nothing to do with this. And as far as we know, none of the other hunters do either." I raised an eyebrow at her exclamation. "They had nothing to do with this? Tell me, how were Kushina and her husband killed?" Juri faltered at my question and she finally let my shoulder go. I looked behind her towards Haruka.
He had stayed silent through the whole ordeal, not wanting to get in the middle of our argument. "Father," Haruka started at my voice addressing him but his eyes were soon on me, "How were they killed?" His eyes closed once more and he wrapped an arm around Juri before he sighed and answered, "Kushina-san was stabbed 17 times with a hunter sword..." He paused and I waited for him to continue, though when it looked like he was not going to say how the male Namikaze died, I pushed him. "Haruka..." He swallowed heavily before he answered, "And Minato was found decapitated in his office." My teeth clenched, a brief flash on sadness making me close my eyes. I looked once more at Juri. "Hunters had nothing to do with it, huh?" She looked away and rested her head against Haruka's chest.
I finished making my way down the stairs, a smile forcing it's way past my mask as Yuki ran up to be and wrapped her short arms around my legs. "Kaname!" I laughed lightly and picked her up. "My little Yuki. What are you doing out of bed?" Me gave me a sheepish smile. "I was waiting for you to tuck me in..." I smiled once more and kissed her forehead as I walked to her room. Laying my sweet baby sister down, I tucked her in and stayed with her until she fell asleep. As I left, I thought 'You are all I have left Yuki. I will do everything in my power to keep you safe.'
(ELSEWHERE)
'It's so cold...' Looking around, all I saw was white. 'Im scared.' Walking for a while longer, I suddenly saw a splash of orange stain the glaring white. A few feet ahead of me, a couple stood on their porch, the light spilling from the doorway onto the snow. I stumbled closer to the pair, only catching their attention when I fell onto the snow at their feet. The woman quickly crouched down next to me, moving my hair from my face and checking me for injuries. "Oh! Are you ok?" Her husband was soon beside us, a light frown on his face. "Hey kid. What are you doing here?" His wife slapped his arm and gave him a look.
"Don't act like that. Look at him, he looks like he has been to hell and back." The woman's husband glared lightly and rubbed at his arm, "Yes, but what if he is one of Them?" The woman gave him a dull stare. "If he was a vampire, the wards would have activated and he would have been killed on the spot." The man 'humf'ed slightly, but relaxed before looking at me. "So kid. What are you doing here?" I tilted my head, not sure how to answer. "I..." The woman gave the man another look before she stood and helped me up.
"You can interrogate him later. I am taking him inside to get warm." She looked at me and gave me a gentile smile, "You can get cleaned up and warm, then you explain what you are doing here tomorrow, after you get some rest." The man started to protest, but stopped once the woman gave him an outright glare. He sighed and was quiet as we walked into the house. "Zero, Ichiru!" Twin steps pounded down the stairs. "Yes, Mother?" The woman smiled at the two children and pulled me infront of her. "We have a guest. I need you two to go run a hot bath while I start dinner. Then go make up one of the spare beds." The two boys nodded and ran back up the stairs. The woman looked at me again and smiled, saying, "Those two were the twins. The one with the short hair was Zero, the one with the longer hair was Ichiru." I nodded and followed the twins up the stairs when they motioned for me to follow them.
Stepping into the bathroom, I didn't realize how cold I was until I felt the heat coming from the water. I quickly got in the water, hissing as the heat clashed horribly with the cold. One of the twins, Ichiru I believe, came back with cloths and said that his other cloths were going to be washed.
I nodded and put my head under the water, regretting it when I come back up and see the water stained orange. Trying not to panic at the blood, I look down and see just how dirty I really am. Taking as much time as I can, I wash as much of the grime off as I can find, the water filthy by the time I am done. Going down the stairs, I am greeted by the smiling face of the woman. "I was just about to call you. Come, diner is ready. Do you feel better?" I nodded, silently taking a seat by the twin the woman had told me was Zero. The woman nodded. "Good. You look better. Who knew you were so cute!" I blushed at her words while the twins snickered and the woman's husband smirked. "Now, I hope you are hungry. I made a lot, and you look like you are positively starved."
I took the plate she handed to me and as soon as the food touched my lips, I knew she was right. I felt like a vacuum as I sucked down all the food. The kind woman simply chuckled as I stared down at my empty plate before she filled it up again. Her husband looked up from his own plate and fixed me with a look, like he was trying to see through me.
"So what's your name, kid?" The woman slapped his arm again, and the twins stopped eating to watch the exchange. "I told you we would not be asking questions until tomorrow, after he had a good nights rest." The man shrugged and continued to stare at me. I stared down at my plate before I looked up and met the mans gaze. "..." The woman was about to start scolding the man again, when a sudden name popped into my mind and spilled from my lips before I could stop it, "Naruto..." The adults, along with the twins, turned and looked at me. The woman smiled once again, gesturing towards my plate. "Well Naruto, you better eat up, you don;t want your food getting cold. I stared at her for a bit before I nodded and finished my meal.
Not too long later, I was led to a small room with two beds, the twins going to one, so I headed towards the one I assumed was for me. As soon as I lade my head on the pillow, I was dragged into a deep sleep, plagued by strange dreams about a red haired woman, and a young boy.
I never noticed the parents outside the door, nor did I hear the whispers about me passing from their lips.
