"Tony what have you done?!"

Tony shot up out of bed. Was that Angela? It couldn't be. Angela wasn't there. She was back home probably sound asleep. He lied back down but found it hard to get back to sleep. He tried to convince himself that he was just worried about his art exam. But he knew that wasn't the whole truth. He was having trouble getting back to sleep after having sex with Kathleen. She had been asleep for a while but so far sleep had been eluding him. He wasn't sure how exactly he was supposed to feel. On the one hand it had felt good being with a woman in the physical sense again. It had been so long and as chauvinistic as it sounded he was a man and had needs. Of course he hadn't set out to sleep with Kathleen. After all they and the rest of their study group had just come here to study for their art exam. But after the others had left he and Kathleen had looked at more slides and had unintentionally been turned on by them. Before either of them knew what was happening they were kissing one another and had ended up having sex.

"Tony what have you done?!"

There was her voice again! What was going on here? Was he going crazy? Was it his guilty conscious that was making him hear her voice? The truth was that a a part of him did feel a little guilty now that that the deed was done. He wasn't sure what had come over him. He hadn't been attracted to Kathleen before. In fact he always found her quite annoying. But after the others had left the two of them had talked and discovered they had a lot in common. They both worked in the service industry. He as a housekeeper and she as a waitress. They both were older students and the fact that she was saving up to go to Italy he had to admit had a certain appeal. He found himself being drawn to her though and had tried to fight it as much as he could. But eventually his will power gave out and they ended up in bed together. He still couldn't believe he had actually slept with another woman. It wasn't because he couldn't. He wasn't dating anyone and was perfectly free to do what he wanted with whom he wanted. The trouble was though he felt guilty. Whether or not he should be was what was haunting him.

"Tony what have you done?!"

"I don't know!" he screamed silently. He honestly did not know. Actually that was untrue. He did know what he had done but he didn't know why he had done it. Was he frustrated at not being able to do anything with Angela? Of course logically he knew that wasn't true. After all she had been ready willing and able in Jamaica but he had put a stop to things before they got out of hand. He hadn't wanted to take the next step with her just yet because he knew it wouldn't just be a one time thing. So he had put the brakes on and had told her he wanted to be sure about him before he was sure about them. In her usual Angela graciousness she had understood and for the past several months had been patient, loving, and supporting.

"Tony what have you done?!"

He heard her voice again but to his surprise that wasn't all. He looked at the end of the bed and saw her standing there. She was looking at him and Kathleen with a crestfallen look on her face. He watched in horror as tears slipped down her cheeks.

"Angela?" he whispered. "What are you doing here?"

"Oh Tony what have you done?!"

"I don't know. I didn't mean for this to happen!"

"It did though. And now everything is going to change."

"I know and I'm sorry."

"So am I Tony. So am I." She closed her eyes and shook her head. After a a few moments she opened them again. "I hope she was worth it Tony."

With those parting words she disappeared leaving Tony to spend the rest of the night in a sleepless slumber.
