Irken Dreams

A girl with carrot-red hair walks briskly down the skool hallway… trying her best not to be noticed.

Suddenly, a careless boy crashes into her.

"Hey! Watch were your- …going?" The boy's voice trailed off when he looked at the girl.

The girl's eyes had… come off. In their place were large, shiny red circles, like a gemstone.

The girl, frozen in fear, could only stare in pure terror as every single being in the hallway surrounded her, their eyes suddenly turning dark, like unnatural evil. When they closed in on her, she envisioned terrible experiments and dissection…

Screaming at the top of my lungs, I shot up into a sitting position. I automatically ripped the tubes that were being used for my simulation straight out of my PAK.

"BERYL!" I screeched as high as my voice could.

Beryl, who had, of course, been goofing off with the other members of our base, swiveled around, showing a pathetically innocent and guilt-filled expression.

"Oh! Uh… hey, Radin… Eh… How was it?"

"Well, I may have actually been mediocre if you had been WATCHING THE MONITER LIKE I TOLD YOU!"

A crash coming from somewhere above us prevented me from ranting and scolding him as much as I had wished.

"What the- LASHO! CHOKO! LAEK! FRONT AND CENTER NOW!"

In response, two robots, our SIR units, suddenly appeared in front of me. The first to appear was cheery and spunk-filled, not too unlike her owner, Beryl, when he goofs off. The other, however, had a dark, almost emotionless aura to him. I was his master, but he always seemed to have his own intentions…

"…" I was impatient by this time, so I turned to Beryl's SIR.

"…Laek? Where is Lasho?"

At the same moment that Laek shrugged, a furry creature with an orange-cream colored body and long ears that looked like a bat/cat mutt's came rushing down the stairs, yelling "I'M SO SO SO SO SO SOOOOO SORRY I'M LATE, MISS RADIN! THE TRANSPOTER-ELEVATOR-THINGY WAS JAMMED AGAIN!"

I sighed as the young hatchling ran up to me and bowed slightly. "Please, Lasho, I know we rescued you, but that was so long ago. You do not need to bow as you did on-"

I was cut off by a harsh beeping noise, signaling a transmission on the monitor.

Automatically, I grabbed Lasho and shoved him under a table, where he was well-hidden.

Two faces hidden by shadows popped up onto the screen. Even though their features were almost completely obscured, Radin [and Beryl also, she knew] could easily recognize their leaders and the current rulers of their original planet, Irk.

"…Greetings, loyal Irken Elites Radinia and Beryllen…"
