|Chapter1- Before Anything Else|
"My life would have been perfect if I never had met you"
My life as a Hijirikawa was simple. Having strict clothing attire, waking up 30 minutes before the sun rises, attend all the formal parties, studying about my family's company for 4 hours after breakfast, having special delinquent sessions with my personal tutor, since I am the next heir I do need such lessons, and my personal favorite: wearing the kimono while practicing the art of calligraphy was all the simple tasks they wanted me to do.
But not all the desires they ever wish is my order to follow. Yes, I do spend most of my extra time playing the piano with my grandfather rather than studying the flow of my family's company. I do come out to the garden to smell the fragrance of the morning flowers bloom than reading the books of how to become a successor of one's family business. I was quite a reckless child back then that I regret the fact I was stubborn enough to sneak out once in one of the parties to go out with a lousy kid…
"Isn't it boring here? I know the best place around here better than this."
That very first line that seduced me into temptation, I reaped what I sowed and now I'm suffering over the consequence. He's a trap and I was too stupid to find out. Splashing water and laughter was very pleasant but it never lasted long. It was my first rebellion as a child.
He then came by every time our parents would have arrangements. But usually, he sneaks into our garden every once in a while.
"Don't move!"
"What is that?!" I can't take a look on insects. It's what I feared most
"Isn't it beautiful?" He pointed on the butterfly that was on a flower. That honest smile of Ren is better than compared to now.
"It's a disgusting insect who would even touch it? Its only perfect part is the wings"
"Well then close your eyes and don't open them until I say so you would understand"
I closed my eyes. He was the only boy who's willing to talk to me and enter my household without permission. I could have told on him from the very beginning though.
The blonde wrapped it around the handkerchief I just held. "You can open them now"
"Wow..!" It looked scary when it flies around the place but seeing it up close where you could see its sweet light golden color, it's wonderful.
"Not everything is made to be perfect, they just do their best which makes them perfect because they've gone that far where no one else has ever tried to explore."
"…Don't give me lessons like my tutor!" Cranky, my eyebrows furred as I crossed my arms.
"You really are like a girl Masa!"
"A-and from now on, pass the front door…" Looking down, facing himself away from Ren he said in a low tone as I pant unusually.
"Huh? But you always won't let me in." "Are you sick? Why are you so red?"
The attention was messed. The butterfly flew gracefully away to the sweet morning breeze that directed to the crimson flowers. It caught Ren's attention, but not mine.
"Because I want you to come here properly of course! I don't want anyone thinking that my f…riends… a thief…" I blurted out. His eyes widened with a smile on his lips. It makes me feel stupid.
"Okay! I'll come by everyday!" He hugged me tight as soon as he was startled by the incoming noise
"Young Master, your new tutor has arrived. Shall I take you to him?"
"Young Master? Young Master!"
Hearing the rustles of a tree branch that Ren had climbed and the shouting for help was all I remembered. I was then awoken by the noises from the people in the house, they looked so panicked. In other words, they found out I had asthma, forbidding me from running or smelling the sweet flowers of the garden. This must have been the consequence of my actions.
Ren then never came by. I stayed the same like nothing happened as if I never had a friend. He might have a reason why he can't visit me even once but it was all in the past so my memory faded until-
"REN YOU BASTARD STOP BUGGING ME. WHAT'S WITH THAT PERFUME OF YOURS?" Now that memory repeats in my head like crazy.
Is he haunting me?
"I created that scent myself. It's like attracting a butterfly."
"If you're thinking of being the only flower for these so called 'butterflies' you don't need to come here and explain your plan on catching their attention, baka."
"I didn't say those kinds of butterflies. I want to attract something more beautiful"
"You mean bees? Be careful, they have huge eyes and sting" I sarcastically said
"What are you doing? You're too close..." He walks closer. Those pretty eyes before now looked too idiotically seductive with those blue orbs shimming by the perfect light of the sun.
Oh.
He just passed by.
"Of course the person more beautiful than the butterflies is you, little lamb."
That idiot.
"If that's all you do, stealing women's heart Jinguji Ren, do what you must."
But from all of the women why do you always take mine?
Why can't he leave me alone? Why does he have to be such a stubborn man with nothing to do in life? He reaped what I sowed that was the most precious to me.
"My life would have been perfect if I never had met you…"
AUTHOR'S NOTE: If you didn't solve the missing parts, when Masato said his first rebellion, he meant that he went with someone his age irresponsibly without the consent of his parents. Even if it was just a light action, he took it seriously.
But the question is: Did Ren hear that dreadful line of Masato? Or was it the mind speaking out loud?
