Chasing You

~*He may run, but she'll be his shadow.*~

He's off again.

And she's so irritated she missed him. She shouldn't have stopped at that mall. Malls are all the same, she guessed, but there was only one him, and now she'd have to search again…

There went the tarot cards, flipping cleanly onto the table, each one pointing out a tiny detail in a much larger plot. She saw it, she really did, and Amy knew that's where Sonic would be.

Her darling Sonic, her Sonic, and she was his Amy, (she hoped), his ultimate fan.

He'd be a blue blur, a flash in the distance, dodging and avoiding her. Playing hard to get. She didn't mind, she'd catch him. One step at a time, she'd follow him around the world and back.

She did.

Already has.

Still is.

The seasons may change, but this fact never did. Back and forth the duo danced, Sonic skipping just out of reach. Sometimes she'd catch him, and Amy would get rewarded with a Sonic smirk before he dashed off again.

That smile, those friendly, taunting words, even his sometimes exasperated sigh was what lured her way out there. The sun would shed its pale light on everything in the arctic, (God knows what he was doing here), but she'd still be there.

The moon would spread white fingers across the desert, and she'd still be after him.

Every single step brought her closer to him, and occasionally he doubled back to help her. Amy, if anything, was confident he loved her too, but he didn't see it yet.

Ah well, he'd get there, she supposed.

She'd climb a tall tree, watching for any sign of him, a sapphire dot on the fields, a turquoise figure bounding away through the trees.

Ah, Amy wished he'd slow down just a little, but she'd be disappointed if he did.

They laughed at her.

On TV.

The radio.

The internet.

Sonic's annoying fan girl, they said, and she proudly proclaimed, of course.

She was going to chase him until he realized he needed her.

He hadn't really reacted yet, oh well; she'd be disappointed if he did so fast anyway.

Each.

Step.

Took.

Her.

Closer.

To.

Him!

She tackled him, hanging onto his shoulders and smiling into his fur, happily saying she found him. He jerked, groaned her name, and then spun around to reluctantly greet her, saying how did she find him so fast?

Love led the way, of course.

They had their usual exchange of teasing, friendly banter before Sonic zoomed away again, but Amy didn't do much else besides huff angrily.

She patiently set off again, knowing she'd find him either way.

But as more and more often this occurred, she began to get discouraged.

Every step felt heavier, and she sighed, sometimes not moving from a spot for hours on end.

Was she right to keep chasing him? True, she loved him, but what was the point of trying to chase him over and over and o-

She was surprised when a rose appeared outside the door of her hotel.

There was not a thorn to be seen, and every petal was pristine and perfect.

And written on a small card in messy handwriting was,

Giving up already?

Amy smiled, tucking the rose behind her ears and saying heck no, she wasn't!

A quick consult of her cards, and she was out ten minutes later, racing down the street, grinning because maybe there was hope after all.

Amy Rose and Sonic the Hedgehog have done this song and dance for years.

He knows he leads; she follows, like in any dance.

They have more dance floors, all across the world, and all are beautiful.

Doesn't matter.

She's cheerily chasing him right now, at her own slow but steady pace, knowing she'll find him like usual, and he'll just smile and run.

But that's their life, their relationship, and if anything Amy saw that single rose as Sonic's unspoken, I love you.

Maybe. She hoped.

Didn't matter again, because she'd chase him no matter what.

A completely pointless drabble I wrote.

Review? =)
