The wind howled blowing the leaves of the trees in the woods. Naruto stood panting over the body of Nagato. He swayed and collapsed. His breathing was shallow and his eyes started to close. He saw figures a few hundred meters away. one detached its self from the group and ran towards him slowly till it was a yard away. It knelt and bent its head till it was level with his. Through the slits of his eyes Naruto saw crimson eyes surrounded by black hair tinted with blue.
"Sasuke," was all Naruto could think.
"What has happened?" Sasuke murmured. He picked his friends body up and carried him to his team. "Change of plan it seems." Sasuke said "we're still going after the elders but there's a stop we're going to have to make." Sasuke slung his still breathing friend on his back and ran. He reached the edge of the once village and stopped. It was gone. ( A.N. Duh Duh Dun!!!!! J) He saw bodies strewn about some living and some dead. A crater lied where the village once stood. "Naruto" a voice rang out. It was all to familiar for Sasuke. He saw Sakura running towards him. Once she recognized who he was she slowed, coming to a stop a few meters a way. "Sasuke," she whispered so soft he was almost unsure she had said anything. Naruto groaned and Sasuke gently took him from his back and laid him on the ground. "He needs help," Sasuke said urgently. Sakura nodded her head clearing her mind and thinking of only how to save Naruto, she unzipped his jacket and placed her hands on his chest letting the green glow surround her hands. Slowly Naruto regained his skin and started breathing normally again. She healed his broken body a little at a time. She eventually ran out of chakara after attending to Naruto for over an hour. A small crowd had formed.
"Ino help me," Sakura said. Ino detached herself from the group and kneeled in front of Sakura, "I will instruct and guide you place your hands on his chest and relax." Sakura said. Ino did as she was told and helped Sakura in finishing up with healing Naruto. Slowly almost hesitantly Naruesto opened his eyes. He blinked to clear his bleary eyes and looked at all who stood around him. His stomach growled and from his lips he said the only thing on his mind, "Ramen." Every one burst out laughing. It had been such an unbearable day but Naruto's remark gave everyone a small joy in an joyless day. He tried to stand up but immense pain came over him and he shuddered and laid back down. "I wouldn't suggest moving for at least three days," Sakura said. She smiled wearily at Naruto and tried to stand up. She swayed and would have fallen if it were not for Sasuke who caught her and sat her back down. Sasuke sat himself down next to Naruto and Sakura.
"You came back." Naruto said. "Of course dobe someone had to take care of you" Sasuke replied with a smirk. Naruto Smiled real big and tried to sit up again. This time he succeeded after he gasped in pain and held onto his side. He took a deep breath then hugged Sasuke he started crying and Sasuke just bowed his head and let a single tear fall from his eyes. "Thank you Naruto" Sasuke said. The two brothers/friends pulled apart each smiling in his own way. Naruto's grin reaching form ear to ear and Sasuke's just a shadow of a smile. Sakura started crying silently letting the tears streak down her face. "Aww Sakura don't cry." Naruto said. "I'm crying because I'm happy." Sakura said. Naruto smiled at her and reached out and drew Sakura and Sasuke near and gave them both a hug. "Just like old times," he said so low only his friends and team mates could hear.
