Christmas.

The word means so much to people. Santa, presents, big meals, the birth of Jesus, joy, laughter, family, snow, hot coco, love...

And this Christmas what it meant to Mia was spending her eve of it with a guy she cared so much about: Mike.

Mentor had decided to let them visit their families for this holiday. Thrilled, the Samurai went on home. Mia had the same bus as Mike and Emily, so she was sitting their, all wrapped up in the heated bus, talking excitedly about it with Emily. Mike was beside her, singing along badly with his iPod.

"See you tomorrow night, Mia!" Emily hugged her friend before pulling out Mike's earplugs and hugging him, saying, "You, too Mike." She then whispered in his ear, "Take good care of Mia."

The blonde skipped out to her home, leaving a very confused Mike behind. So confused, this was his only thought: ?

When the bus stopped at Mike's house, he looked at her and shyed, "Um...can you...?"

"Come on," she picked up her bags and took his hand.

The two waded in the deep snow until they stumbled into Mike's cozy home.

"Mikey!" a tall women with shoulder length blonde hair and eyes like Mike's embraced the snow covered boy.

"Hey, Claire," he looked at Mia, "this is my sister, Claire."

"Hi, I'm Mia," the girl shook Claire's hand.

"Aw..my little brother has a girlfriend!" she cooed.

"Do not!" Mike protested, but she didn't listen.

"Oh, no!" Mia gasped, "the bus left!"

Pulling her clothes on tight, Mia started out with her bags.

"No, no, no," Mike grabbed her hand, "you are not walking in that."

"Why not?" she asked.

"Mia, it's cold outside," his eyes begged her to stay.

"But my family..." tears welled in her eyes, going to her frozen cheeks.

"Don't cry," Mike held her, "we'll call them."

When they did, her mom assured her she was on her way. Smiling weakly, Mia hung up.

"So...what do we do?"she asked.

"Let's decorate," Mike suggested, pointing to their bare Christmas tree.

Mia was grinning at the tree as soon as they got done. It was beatiful, glowing bright. As Claire made coco, Mike and Mia talked about their families and ate cookies.

"This is fun," she smiled before yawning.

Smiling, Mike went to the couch, Mia following. She laid against him as the TV chattered. She was fighting tiredness, so he sung her a lulluby.

The lights are shining,

The snow is falling.

It's Christmas time here,

Once again cold this year.

It's cold outside,

And the snow is falling.

But Mia, you are here,

So my heart is warm.

The carols make us sway,

And the band starts to play.

The TV chatters away,

And we are inside, safe.

It's cold outside,

And the snow is falling.

But Mia, you are here,

So my heart is warm.

And now we sleep on the couch,

Niether of us making a sound.

You're cut and perfect in every way,

Another reason this is my favorite day...

It's cold outside,

And the snow is falling.

But Mia, you are here,

So my heart is warm.

Yeah, Mia, it's cold outside,

But you are here.

So my heart is warm.

She was soon asleep against him. He smiled, slipping into slumber himself. Her parents may be nearly there and it may be freezing out. But inside, with her with him, asleep with a smile of love, he wouldn't have it any other way.
