Jonsey and Carla's Cottage in Ware

Henry, holding Noel, walked with Jonsey to the table to eat the delicious dinner Carla had cooked just for them.

"Smells great, honey." Jonsey said eyeing the cooler with iced beers stacked up to the top.

"Jonsey, you already have one. Quit looking at those."

"Why? It wouldn't hurt to have a few more before midnight..." He said reaching over to them. But Carla closed the lid.

"Because, those are mine." Carla said assertively.

"Okay, okay." Jonsey said backing up from her and her cooler.

"Carla, can I have one after I finish this one?" Henry asked holding up his currently, half filled bottle.

"Sure Henry. Help yourself." She opened the cooler again and gave Jonsey 'the look'

"Really?"

"He's our guest. Emphasis on guest. Now, where are my glasses?" She turned to look on the table behind her. As she did that, Jonsey reached in the cooler that had been left open and grabbed a few beers and stuffed them under the chair he was about to sit in.

"Don't say anything." Jonsey whispered.

"I won't as long as you share." Henry whispered back.

"What are you two boys whispering about now?"

"You." Jonsey said.

"Really? What'd he say Henry."

"He said your glasses are right in front of you and-"

"That's it." Jonsey interrupted.

"Really? Where? I don't see them." Jonsey scowled at Henry and went to help his wife to find her glasses. Noel was crawling on the ground in circles now.

"Hey, Carla, is Noel ever this quiet?

"Well, no. He isn't. Why don't you pick him up and get his attention." As Henry got up to go get him, Noel stopped where he was and just sat there.

"Come on Noel." As he said that, Noel was split in half. Right down his spine. There was no blood at first, then it just started pouring out of both halves of his body.

"Umm, Jonsey. Could you come here right quick?"

"Sure what-" Jonsey was frozen. His son was cut in half by

"What did you do?" Jonsey yelled.

"Nothing, I swear. He just froze and he was in half. I promise-" He was interrupted by a sudden, sharp scream. Carla's.

"Jonsey, I think I know what caused this. I think they're back."

"Back? How could they be back?"

"They have better weapons now. I guess they really wanted to take Earth." Henry got up and got a role of paper towels.

"What're you doing now?" Carla asked.

"Do you want your other kids seeing this? I don't think so. I'm going to cover this up as much as I-" He stopped when he reached over to get the other half of Noel's body and screamed.

"What was that?" He yelled.

"What?"Jonsey asked coming closer.

"No, wait. Don't go past where his body is separated," Carla made a small noise and turned away. "I think there's some sort of field or something."

"Some sort of field?"

"Yeah. Like an electric field. It's blocking us from the outside and it kinda shocks you if you touch it."

"It does?" He said walking up to it.

"No, Jonsey, don't touch it. With your replaced hip and everything."

"Please, it shouldn't do any damage to my hip. I don't even think it's plastic mostly."

"Trust me." He said blocking him from touching the field thing.

"Move, Henry."

"Okay. At least I tried to warn you." Jonsey was almost touching the field when Carla called out to him.

"Jonsey, please listen to Henry. He's your friend. He's probably just trying to protect you. I don't want you to get hurt again." Jonsey hesitated for a moment, almost touching the field.

"Okay. You'd better not be lying." He pointed an accusing finger at Henry.

"I'm not. Boy Scout's honor."

"You've never been a Boy Scout have you?"
"No. But I want to be one." Jonsey laughed.

"What were you going to do with that other half of…" He couldn't finish his sentence. It was too horrible for him to fact the fact that his youngest son was dead and had died in a cruel way.

"Umm. I don't know. Do you just want me to cover it with a towel or something?"
