Me: This is a one shot that's been on my mind for awhile.
Summary: On her first day waiting as NCIS, Ziva falls asleep. A certain ghost pays her a visit. Implied Ari/Kate
"You're at my desk,"
Ziva's head snapped up and her hands turned into fists. The chair was knocked over when she stood up.
"Who are you?" Ziva demanded.
"You should know… your half brother shot me,"
"You are… Kate," Ziva said. "But you are dead."
"Ghosts have ways of traveling around," Kate said with a smile. "Rather convenient, wouldn't you say so?" Ziva was rather impressed. The smile didn't quite reach her eyes but it would certainly fool people into believing it was genuine. Of course, Ziva wouldn't tell her that.
"Why are you visiting me?" Ziva said. "Why not Denozo or McGee? They are your teammates and Denozo certainly sleeps often enough." Kate smiled again- genuinely this time.
"I want to tell you something. They've already said their goodbyes," Kate said.
"And what is so important that you tell me?" Ziva asked.
"Well, for starters, they don't get here until another two hours," Kate said.
"They are supposed to be here by now," Ziva said.
"You'll learn rather quickly," Kate said. "That Gibbs doesn't like listening to others."
"But that isn't what you're here to tell me," Ziva said.
"No, it isn't," Kate said.
"Then what is it that you want to tell me?" Ziva asked impatiently.
"Take care of them," Kate said. "Or you'll be answering to me."
"You are dead," Ziva scoffed. "What could you possibly do?"
"Take care of them and you won't have to find out," Kate said. "They're good people, Ziva."
"Fine… I will take care of them for you," Ziva said. Kate's answer was a smile- she did that a lot…
"You know, Kate, my brother did like you," Ziva said.
"I know," Kate said. "I'll tell him you say shalom."
And when they bordered the Chimera, Ziva was almost certain the thing she saw on board was a ghost but the thought was quickly dismissed. After all, hadn't she been taken care of Tony and McGee?
