The leaf

there was a leaf frozen on the ice stuck

if it should escape it would be by luck

yet as it breathed its last goodbye

as it uttered a last hopeful cry

the sun came out and cradled the leaf

melting the ice with warmth it could keep

the sun drew the leaf into the sky

setting it free from up on high

the leaf its gratitude poured out with joy

indebted itself so its thanks it could employ

the sun disagreed saying there should be no price

leaf was sun's friend so she freed it from ice

and from that day on the sun helps the leaves

the forest of plants with the warmth that it keeps

The War

somber faces such grim sights

who made darkness from the lights

eerie screaming hushed pain

who marked the places where they have lain

soft cries silent war

who turned memories into lore

quiet sighs unheard moans

who cleared out all of their bones

forgotten places red stained floors

who walked after through heaven's doors

no tomorrow only yesterday

who sent the souls in death away

blackened sky darker hall

who started the destruction of them all

ruddy ground death by the ton

who righted the wrongs they all have done

Hope

The darkness tries to bite

They fight back with all they've got

It's dark against light

But who will pull through

Equals it seems

Yet not from there

Just watch out for the cause

See the fire in their eyes

Those who put light through the dark

Have a blazing fury undenied

See this light

Their token of strength

Feel the blaze

The hope that arises
