A/N: Okay, this is entirely out of the norm for me. I don't usually wander into Twilight fanfiction, but for my friends, I'd do it. I don't own Twilight or 'Not Afraid' by Eminem.

This is for Werner. Merry Christmas!

Not Afraid

Emmett's always been the tough guy. He always stands out. Even for an older vampire he still had strength that surpassed the others'. Yes, they did have powers too. Edward and his bloody mindreading skills, Jasper – who he liked to think of as a "controlfreak", quite literally, and Alice from not-so-Wonderland.

Yet, he wasn't afraid of anything. Not newborn vampires, werewolves, or even the Volturi. He knew one day they'd have to make a stand against the narcissistic bastards that ran the play, but hey, they still had time.

Or he hoped so.

But they were a family. A large family, too. Whatever the circumstances, whatever the matter – they'd all stand and fight. Unafraid.

Together through the storm, hand in hand, both figuratively and literally, they'd walk. No matter the cold or the warmth, they'd walk together. Stand and fight.

The Volturi was against them. They were hoping to extinguish the vegetarian vampires, but they wouldn't succeed.

Because Emmett would fight. He would fight until his very last, well, one can't call it breath, could you? He'd fight until his last gasp. Did that make more sense?

. . .

"Surrender, Emmett." Jane said in her sickeningly sweet and innocent voice.

Emmett glanced back at her. They had him tied up, hanging from the middle of the room, silver chains around his wrists.

"I'm not afraid." He said.

"Not? Well, I can fix that." Jane said quietly. He knew what was coming. That fire, that horrible fire that could make him burn for hours, days, weeks – even months on end. He closed his eyes, ready for impact.

None came. He dared to open his eyes again – and there she was. Rose. His pretty little Rose, so precious, yet so vicious.

"Oh, Emmett." She tutted. "What am I to do with you?" Her one heel tapped inconsistently, annoying him to no end.

"Would you stop that?" He snapped at her. The tapping only grew faster.

"Get down."

"Where's Jane?"

"Gone. Now get down!"

"No."

"Emmett, so help me…"

Emmett broke the chains from the ceiling, he watched as the heavy metal tumbled down, right into Rose. Or it would've been if Rose hadn't she moved so quickly.

"Be careful, will you?" She scolded. She was behind him. He turned around an caught her icy lips in a sweet kiss.

"Not if you'll always save me." He retorted, smirking.

"Of course, Emmett, I'm not afraid."

And then he saw her. Jane. Dead. Her head severed from her rock body.

"And now we actually have more reason be afraid." He commented, nudging the youth's head.

"Yes… We'd better tell the others – or what say you?"

"Tell them. Together we're stronger than divided."

. . .

A/N: Okay, please don't flame me. This was a gift to a friend, and I don't want flames besmirching that gift.
