Seigaku

It was a dark and stormy day at Seigaku. All the afterschool activities had been canceled due to lightning. Inui-kun had stayed after school to question the science teacher.

"I'm sorry Inui-kun but I can't let you use the lab equipment after hours for a personal project." Inui-kun nodded and scribbled in his notebook while muttering, "Failure, 45% chance of success due to reputation." and turned to leave.

"Wait a moment Inui-kun, there is some lab equipment in the basement for the chemistry club." Inui pushed his glasses farther up his nose. The science teacher shifted nervously, "However it is currently in use by the single member of the chemistry club, Fukuda Rin." At that moment lightning struck, punctuating Rin-san's name. The lights flickered and dimmed, then gave out. The science teacher, Honma-sensei, gave a little yelp, and reached for his desk. Utterly calm Inui spoke up "Honma-sensei do you know where a flashlight might be found?" Honma-sensei's voice wavered, "I think I have one in my desk, let me check" After a little fumbling Honma-sensei produced a small flashlight. "Sensei, could you give me Fukuda Rin's class number, and show me where the lab equipment is?" "Fukuda Rin is in class 3-7. I would like to go home but I will show you where the equipment is if you insist on doing it now." "Thank-you Sensei."

They walked down the darkened corridors while the rain beat against the windows. Just as they reached the basement they started to hear the sound of music.

"I hold your hand in mine, dear,

I press it to my lips.

I take a healthy bite

From your dainty fingertips.

My joy would be complete, dear,

If you were only here,"

Honma-sensei started to tremble and pointed down the corridor, "Last door on the left.", before turning around and starting back up the stairs at a much quicker pace than he came down them. Inui-kun watched Honma-sensei go before pushing his glasses back up, and pulling out a cellphone for light. He continued down the hall.

"But still I keep your hand

As a precious souvenir.

The night you died I cut it off.

I really don't know why.

For now each time I kiss it

I get bloodstains on my tie.

I'm sorry now I killed you,

For our love was something fine,

And till they come to get me

I shall hold your hand in mine."

Inui-kun paused at the door. He slowly turned the doorknob and opened the door.

FunFact- you know the guy who wrote the elements song that your teacher probably showed you in science class, was the same person who wrote this song.

The lyrics I put in here belong to an actual song called, "I Hold Your Hand In Mine", by Tom Lehrer. I suggest you look it up on youtube to get the full humor of why I chose that song.

I wrote this on a whim after going on a Tom Lehrer song binge, although I had had the idea for a girl for Inui for a while (since last I checked there were exactly zero romance fics for him... excluding yaoi.)

Right now I have no idea of how to portray Rin (I have a few ideas but none that I have settled on) so until I am inspired again... this fic will remain a oneshot.
