Disclaimer: I do not own Mega Man X or Metroid, they belong to Capcom and Nintendo respectively.
A little info: As it says in the description, this story line is heavily influenced from my "Tales of" stories on the X side of things. This could be considered AU from it since this is not a possible future from that series of stories. As for the metroid side of things, I originally designed this story to be after Metroid Fusion but without Samus having lost the original Power Suit or Gun Ship. A much older me now realizes how silly that was and am changing it to be set between Super and Fusion. One final note here as well, while this story has been around from ages, I am rebooting it by redoing the current chapters I have up and then continuing from there so as people who have supported it from the original days will be kept up to date with the changes so what you're reading here is the rebooted chapter 1. Anyway, on with the show.
Chapter 1: Mission Start
Samus Aran, feared intergalactic bounty hunter currently didn't feel so fierce. Her latest mission was one that would now haunt her for the rest of her days. Not only had she lost the Metroid Hatchling, but her entire planet as well. For so long had Samus called planet Zebes home and now it was gone, all because Mother Brain had somehow rigged the entire to explode upon her defeat. If there was any consolation the hunter could take from that entire ordeal was that the primary faction of the Space Pirates had finally been wiped out. Every since then thing had thankfully been quiet so she at least had time to reflect on and take in everything that had happened. Being inside a soothing shower was also helpful as well, it helped relax her further. However, all good things have to come to an end and as the water of the shower started to run cold Samus finally decided it was time to leave it behind. She shut the water off and reached out for a towel.
After drying herself she wrapped it around herself and stepped out. However the cool air of the ship quickly starting biting at her, a stark contrast to the hot shower and she started to shiver a little. Her muscles relaxed at least she left the shower room and stepped into her own room. She quickly got dressed inside of her skintight full body blue jumpsuit known as her Zero Suit. No long feeling the chill the hunter left the room and made her way to the cockpit, sitting down in the pilot chair. Almost as if that was a signal, a small alarm went off telling her she was recieving a transmision. With a groan Samus leaned forward and accepted it. A large screen appeared and on it was a commander she was familiar with from the Galactic Fedreation.
"Greetings Miss Aran," said the man.
"What can I do for you Colonel Rydei?" the bounty hunter inquired.
"Well, I was asked to contact you because we have a mission of much importance for," the Colonel replied.
Samus wasn't entire sure if she was ready to return to active duty yet but at the same time she was getting bored sitting around doing nothing and just letting her gun ship drift around wherever it wanted.
"What sort of mission?" she asked.
"There was a transport ship known as the Eureka, it was on its way to a B.S.L. research facility located near SR388 carrying a very important piece of cargo. However, a few hours ago we lost contact with the ship. It didn't report in for it's final scheduled check in and we haven't been able to hail it since. We want you to go to its last known coordinates and investigate," Rydei explained in full.
Samus thought his words over for a moment.
"Alright Colonel, I will check it out," Samus said sorta reluctantly.
"Thank you Samus. If you do manage to find the ship your objectives is to figure out the crew and the cargo. After that, the retrieval of the cargo will be your primary objective," the Colonel explained.
"Very well, once I have located the ship and scouted it, I will be in touch," the hunter replied before cutting the line.
She leaned back into her chair and pressed a couple of buttons on the right arm. Two green projector beams shot out of the corners of the cockpit and started dancing around her body. After several moments a bright flash occurred and Samus found herself in her Power Suit. She glanced then glanced down to a blinking a monitor and pressed the button. A map appeared of the transport ship's flight schedule and highlighted with a blinking red dot on the map was the last known coordinates of the ship.
"Hopefully it isn't anything too mean or nasty," Samus mused to herself as she typed in the location on her navigation panel and sent the ship into warp speed.
Upon her exit from hyperspace her scanners picked up immediately the Eureka. Now being serious she ran several scans over the ship. The scanners were picking up no signs of life and as for damage to the ship, there was absolutely none. The only issue the ship faced according to the scans were that the engines had been disabled. After verifying there were no immediate threats she brought her ship around and docked with the Eureka. Samus quickly exited her ship and boarded the transport and immediately looked around with her arm cannon ready. Even though her scanners had shown no life forms she didn't immediately take that as a sign there was no danger what at all. She started making her way down the halls, making a bee line for where she knew cargo would be stored, keeping an ear, eye, and scanner out for anything her ship might have missed. As Samus went though, there was nothing.
There was no damage internally just like externally and this concerned her. If it was pirates, this wasn't their style. The ship would have been demolished and scavenged. Finally she reached the Cargo Hold and was meant with a wide open door. The lights were still on so she stepped inside. She swapped her cannon over to her Super Missile's for a little more added precaution. Inside the hold were various boxes and objects that the Eureka had been delivering. However, what stood out the most to the bounty hunter was the blue capsule directly in the center of the room. Curious she slowly approached and ran her hand over its smooth surface. She had never seen such a thing before. Noticing it had a small window she decided to peak inside. What she found there surprised her. It looked like a man, covered in blue armor and wearing a blue rounded helmet with a red gem in the center was sleeping inside of it.
"Is this the cargo Colonel Rydei was wanting secured?" Samus questioned herself.
Slowly she reached for the lock that kept the capsule shut but the moment she made contact with it, an invisible force exploded out from the capsule and sent her flying across the room. She managed to catch herself with the Screw Attack and landed gently back onto the floor. There was no doubt about it now, this was definitely what the federation wanted. As she was about to make contact with the Colonel the capsule started to suddenly spew out steam and she could hear several clicks come from the latches that kept it shut come open. With the Super Missile's still active she readied her arm cannon as the door swung open. After several seconds, she could see a shadow appear in the thick steam that surrounded the capsule and she heard heavy footsteps clank against the floor...
Former maverick hunter Mega Man X shook his head as he stepped out of his capsule, taking a couple of deep breaths. Was it really time for him to be awakened already? It hadn't felt like he had been out that long. Taking a second he ran an internal scan of himself.
"System rebooted, time 23XX, status normal, X-Buster Online, Z-Saber online. Combat status ready," rang out the computerized voice in his head.
With that finished he stepped out from behind the cloud of steam to find to his shock he was not where he had sealed himself up. Also he found himself face to face with another robot, purple in color with large rounded pauldrons that had an arm cannon of their own. An arm cannon that was pointed directly at him.
"Enemy threat detected, life form scanning, vitals stable, life form scan complete, unknown, threat level massive," his scanner stated to him.
With that last word though his eyes grew wide and he quickly leaped from his capsule, hopefully he could still fight despite it being so long. X landed directly behind her and quickly converted his left hand into his X-Buster and quickly opened fire...
Samus couldn't believe it, the speed at which he suddenly moved had taken her entirely off guard and even she didn't have time to react as she felt energy pellets slam into her suit draining it of more energy than she would have cared for. Annoyed for being careless to begin with she reasoned not to let herself be taken off guard again and she quickly leaped away from her attacker and quickly spun around and fired one of her Super Missile's. The man however saw it coming and he quickly drew a green bladed curved beam sword and sliced it promptly in two causing it to fall harmlessly to the ground.
"Who are you and what are you doing here?" came the voice from her opponent.
"I am here on orders to find you I presume," Samus replied.
Which made the bounty hunter realize, she really shouldn't be fighting this guy, this was after all as she had just said, the very thing she had come to retrieve.
"Find me? What for?" he demanded.
"You were being transported to a research facility when this ship suddenly fell off the grid,"
"Transported?" he questioned, seemingly more to himself than her.
Samus lowered her gun as a show of good faith to the man and she hoped he would do the same. He didn't seem innately hostile, he had after all come out of his capsule to find her waving the arm cannon in his face so he was probably just taking defensive action. The blue armored man seemed to notice her gesture and he himself lowered his cannon.
"I believe we've gotten off on the wrong foot. I am Samus Aran, intergalactic bounty hunter," she offered in a casual friendly tone to try and make him relax more.
The man came closer to her and nodded.
"I am Mega Man X, former maverick hunter," he said in kind.
"Mega Man X? That's an odd name for some one," the bounty hunter said.
"Trust me, there are reploids out there with much odder names," X said.
Hidden to Blue Bomber was Samus' sudden shock that appeared on her face.
"Reploid?" she questioned, the surprise apparent in her voice.
This slightly confused X and he nodded.
"Why do you sound surprised? Aren't you a reploid as well, or at least something similar? Cause you certainly look like one," the Azure Hunter inquired.
"Not here, let's return to my ship first," Samus responded.
This gravely concerned X but he nodded anyway and followed as Samus started leading him out of the ship. As they moved toward the front of the transport ship a lot of questions started to flood X's mind, the main two being why he had been moved from his original location and placed on here for transport and why Samus had seemed surprised about reploids. Something deep down inside though told him that he wasn't going to like the answers.

Well here we are, long awaited at last in a sense. I know people are anxious for this story to continue and it will in time but first I needed to redo the first couple of chapters before I continued on and hopefully everyone will be happy with the results. If you're a first time reader, I would stop reading here since this is the revised chapter 1 so the next chapter will make no sense in the grand scheme of things until I can rewrite it as well. Anyway, as always R&R no matter what you have to say, good or bad, it all helps. Till next time my peeps!
