Scary
Natalya has loved scary stories and movies ever since she was a child. Maybe because they put living in Xavier's clutches into perspective, maybe because it made her laugh to see big strong Razvan look nervously around when she said a particularly chilling line. But whatever the origins, her love for the horror was true and strong.
So years later, when she started real live vampires, it felt more like an adventure than a life or death struggle. Each kill was dramatic and clichéd, like a scene from her favorite old movies, and while she felt fear, it was no more than the shivers she experienced in front of a screen.
Until now. Because now she doesn't fight alone, and that's become a problem too because no one approves of her joining him in battle even though Vikernoff maintains that "its their relationship and everyone else can fuck off" and Natalya appreciates that because while she would happily give up fighting vampires, Vikernoff can't and suddenly she had a new fear.
Natalya would never survive losing him. Not ever. So she had to be there, because he couldn't die, and she knew that he would never die and leave her at the hands of his murderers.
And even though they had never spoken of it, she knew that he understood. She saw it in the way he refused to bend to the will of the warriors council to forbid her to go out hunting with him, although they were right, it did distract him just the tiniest bit. And she loved him all the more for that, that he put her piece of mind ahead of anything else, and she thanked God that he found her in the snowy forest that night.
