When It Happens to You

Authors Note- I'm doing a very short Default Chapter. The first chapter, that I have in mind, would give away too much. Therefore, I will give a longer summary, and I would love to know what you think. That way, I can go on.

For those who have seen the movie, you know the story of Carl Lee Hailey. His ten-year-old daughter, Tanya, was raped and almost murdered. Carl Lee knew that the men who did such a horrible thing would get very little jail time, so, he took matters into his own hands. When the alleged rapist were on the way to their hearing, Carl shot them both to death on the courtroom steps.

After a grueling trail, Carl Lee Hailey was voted to be innocent, and went home a free man. He probably would have gotten the gas chamber if it wasn't for his lawyer, Jake Brigance. This story is about him.

Throughout the movie (and the novel, but I don't know for that for sure) his wife, Carla, and Carl Lee mentioned how horrible such an incident was on the Hailey family. How horrible it would be if the same happened to Jake's young daughter, Hannah. They both said he would probably do the same thing had he been in Carl Lee's position. But Jake couldn't even begin to think what it was like. What someone in that situation would think, or do.

Let's say, Tanya Hailey was never raped. That she made it home safely that day after getting the groceries. What if it was Hannah Brigance who was kidnapped and attacked? What would Jake do? Now that it was happening it to him, he would know what it's like. But would he know how to react?

So? What do you think? Should I go on?
