So I'm starting a new story. I don't know if I should continue. Its just an idea I'm putting out there. I'll continue this story if I get three positive reviews.
"You are a MISTAKE! An ABOMINATION! Do you hear me?! You do not belong on this earth!" The calls chased me down the morbid corridors. I ran as fast as my skinny legs would carry me, taking sharp turns to evade capture. A hairy paw stuck out to stop me.
"Where do you think you're going, punk?" Ari sneered.
"Away from here, that's for sure," I retorted, launching a roundhouse kick to his chest. My incredibly fast brain calculated my next trajectory angle. I hit Ari square on his temple and he was down fro the count. Maybe being an experimental bird kid wasn't that bad. Wait, fuck that.
I was practically free, literally yards away from the nearest window. I brought my shoulders forward and prepared for the impact. It's not like I haven't jumped through my fair share of windows, right? I tried to convince myself. I didn't slow down as I cam into contact with the reinforced glass. As soon as the glass shattered, I snapped out my dark brown wings.
I soared upwards towards the cloudless, starry night. I was finally free, but I immediately knew that I couldn't survive on my own. I was the last bird-kid they'd had in their clutches, after the other six escaped. Even if they only thought of me as a cheap replica of Fang. I'm just another easily-replaced clone, right? Wrong! I was their test-dummy; they needed me badly.
I ran my fingers through my blonde-brown hair and searched the ground for an enclosure to stay the night in. I found a small hideaway. It was perfect; I'd barely seen it, so none of the whitecoats would find it. I landed with a soft thud and I saw something stir in the dark. I ducked under a tree branch.
"Whose there," a female voice called into the darkness. A bright beam ran over my grimy clothes. I looked up towards the source of light. A tall blonde girl stood warily next to a tall pine tree. She eyed me carefully.
"My name is Alessandro. Alessandro Pierre," I whispered.
"Well Alessandro, I advise you run along. We don't need any trouble," she replied. I looked at her feet to see five bundles on the barren ground. I gasped.
"You're… Maximum Ride," I managed, trying not to hyperventilate. This was too damn good to be true. I'm free for literally half an hour and I manage to run into Max Ride.
"Uh, yes. But do I know you? Are you with the whitecoats, or something?" Max responded.
"Hell, no. Why would I be? All they do is torture me," I breathed.
"So you mean that you are a…" Max trailed off. I simply nodded, my deep blue eyes pleading her to let me stay. She motioned towards the five bundles on the ground. "Wait, I don't believe you. Show me your wings," she demanded. I unfurled my sixteen feet of glory and Max's eyes widened.
"You can stay for one night. After that, we take a vote," she warned.
"Fine," I agreed. Max pointed to a spot on the ground and I curled up there, adjusting to the cold, hard ground. Max threw a blanket at me and I muttered a thanks. I slept peacefully, happy I was finally free.
