A/N: This is a Secret Santa gift for DaughterOfHermes130. She requested a James/Lily with the prompts honeymoon, snowflake, and darlin'. I hope she enjoys!

James fell onto the bed in the dorm room, a dreamy look in his eyes. He had just gotten back from a date with Lily in Hogsmeade, and thought he was alone. He sighed happily and stared up at the ceiling, going over the day's events. He was in pure bliss.

His moment was interrupted when Sirius barged into the room, hair dripping and grinning like a mad man. "Jamsey-poo! You're back!" He giggled and hugged James. "How'd it go with your darlin'?"

James groaned and pushed his best friend off of him, wiping water off of his face. "Really Sirius, stop acting like that."

Sirius smirked and sat on the floor, looking up at James. "So, how was the date?"

James' face drifted back into its blissful state, and he sighed. "Wonderful. I wonder what our honeymoon will be like…"

Sirius pretended to gag. "Honeymoon? Really James, you've thought that far ahead? Dude, this I something you picked up in school. I really doubt you're going to marry her. It's been what, 7 weeks since you started dating? Really, slow it down a bit."

James glared at him. "Shut up, Sirius. I don't wanna hear what you have to say." Sirius shrugged and walked out of the room, leaving James to his thoughts. He fell back onto the bed, his mood ruined. At least for the moment.

The weekend was a welcome break for all of the students, hanging out in the snow and just generally having fun. Winter break was nearing and many of the first years were talking about how excited they were to see their family again.

James Potter however was not joining in any of the snowball fights, not even talking to anyone. He just sat by 'his' tree on the edge of the lake, seemingly lost in though. Lily Evans knew him better then that though. She walked up to him and put her hand on his shoulder, her eyes betraying her concern for him. "Hey, you okay?" she asked, looking down at his face.

"Yeah, I'm fine." He turned away from her, his voice soft.

She sat next to him, wrapping her arms around her knees. "You sure? You don't seem okay."

James sighed and turned to look at her. "What do you think our future will be like?"

Lily looked at him, her green eyes wide, the question had defiantly taken her by surprise. She looked up into the sky, watching as a myriad of snowflakes fell. She caught one on her mitten and let it melt away, before an idea struck. Damn, she was going to sound cheesy. But she went with it. "Our future? Something like a snowflake, I guess." Seeing James' confused face, she giggled and carried on. "Each one has a unique pattern, and the one you see all depends on where you are. But soon it melts away. We can choose what we want our future to look like, but we should spend less time thinking about it and spend more time thinking about the present." She finished her idea in a rush, cursing herself. She did sound cheesy.

James looked at her and laughed. "You made that up on the spot, didn't you?"

Lily blushed and nodded, digging her hands in to the snow.

James laughed again and leaned in for a soft kiss. "Thanks Lily. The analogy made no sense whatsoever, but it made me feel better."

"Hey! It totally made sense!" She snapped, before smiling. "Okay, maybe not. But you at least could have lied for me."

She turned to James, only to find out he was no longer there. Suddenly, a snowball hit her hard on the back of her head, and she shrieked, running around to face her boyfriend. He was doubled over in laughter, and Lily smirked. "It is so on!" She cried, pulling her wand out. The snowball fight of a century followed, thoughts of their future melting like snowflakes.
