Chapter One

Jaguar left appeared in his office, practically simmering from his meeting with Turquoise. He had been right on time as usual, at the small coffee shop. He should have realized what was going on when he saw the expression on her face. *flashback* "I'm sorry Jaguar," Turquoise said, "I must have been hunting vampire's to long, but I just can't let myself become what you are. I want to be Cathy again. I want to live the dreams that I lost when." She couldn't continue for the tears in her eyes. " And you expect to do that with Greg?" Jaguar asked. Turquoise only nodded, taken aback by the coldness of his tone. He vanished then, unable to stand the anger rising in him. *end flashback* She had rejected him. She had rejected him. Damnit, she was his. No, he corrected himself, she's Greg's. He reached for something to throw and before long, a wineglass shattered against the wall. He sank into a chair miserably then, not rising until a hesitant knock sounded at the door. "Come in," he said quietly. "Jaguar," a deep voice greeted. "Nathaniel," he said in return without looking up. "Is there something you wanted?" "Actually yes. I was given one of Jeshickah's slaves by a friend and I didn't know where else to bring her." He waited patiently for Jaguar's answer and was rewarded a few minutes later. "Fine," Jaguar said wearily. "Bring her in." Nathaniel opened the door and gently grabbed the girl that was waiting outside by the arm and led her in. Jaguar stood and walked over to her. "How much?" He asked. He didn't have the energy to argue over something as that seemed so trivial at the moment, so he paid the first price offered. After Nathaniel had left with his money, Jaguar took the time to inspect the girl. She was pretty, with black curls that reached her waist and blue green eyes. She was unusually thin, but that didn't worry him. "Name," he asked, but she remained silent. "What is your name?" he asked slowly, his lack of patience evident in his voice. That seemed to frighten her and finally, she spoke. "I.I don't remember, milord," she answered hesitantly. Jaguar noticed for the first time how violently she was trembling and how she refused to meet his eyes. He realized she was terrified of him. He gripped her chin gently, so as not to scare her more and brought her eyes up to meet his. He was enthralled by her eyes, which were the color of the deepest waters of the sea. "Then we will simply have to give you one, won't we?" he offered with a friendly smile. "Any preferences?" "Whatever you think is best milord," she answered. "Please call me Jaguar," he corrected. "I think Kai should do nicely," he decided, naming her for the sea of her eyes. "Yes milord," she replied. "Jaguar," he said. "Jaguar," she repeated. After giving her the usual rules, Jaguar signaled for Eric to take her away so that he could be alone with his own self-pity.

Eric hadn't stopped talking since they left Jaguar's study. He had yet to realize that the girl at his side didn't hear a word he had said. Finally, he left the small room he had brought her to and left. Kai, as she was now called, looked around the room that she was in. It was small, with only a bed and table. There were three doors, one lead to a bathroom, another lead to a closet, and another to the hallway. The walls were sponged a pale yellow cream and a few lamps illuminated the room, making up for the lack of windows. She didn't have to share a room and for that she was grateful. She searched the walls until she found the switch that would extinguish the lights and crawled into the bed. Sleep came immediately and she hoped that her exhaustion would banish the nightmares.

AN: Whoa it's been so long since I've written anything. I might finish this if I get good reviews on it.
