Soulmates

This is Phoebe's POV, set in season 8 during TOW Joey tells Rachel, when Phoebe thinks she has found Monica's soulmate. Just short and sweet, 'cause I have a bit of a writers' block right now, but really needed to write something…

~.~

When I told Chandler that I found Monica's soulmate, I probably should have clarified my definition of "soulmate." Even though he said he doesn't believe in them, I really should have clarified it, because now that Chandler has met Monica's "soulmate," he is doing a good deal of freaking out. Especially for someone who doesn't even believe in soulmates.

So, the way I see it, is everyone has many soulmates. Ya know, people who you share a soul with. People you encounter throughout your lives (current and past) whom you share a connection with. Your other half, more or less, but not necessarily in the lovey-dovey way. Sometimes, it's someone you love and have a relationship with. Sometimes, it's a friend. Sometimes, it's a stranger you share nothing but a brief conversation with on the subway.

I probably should have clarified that to Chandler.

Because, right now, he's freaking out about Monica and Don living in a cheese-house in France drinking wine and bashing on his beloved sun-dried tomatoes. Right, like Monica would live in a house of cheese! That would be next to impossible to clean. Doesn't Chandler know her at all by now? He's known her, what, like 15 years? Come on, Chandler!

But, really, he has nothing to worry about. He and Monica may not be soulmates, but they've encountered each other in many past lives. And, like I said, a soulmate doean't have to be a significant other. And I really feel the need to interject here, because Chandler's being all, well, Chandler, and completely embarrassing himself, and Monica has no idea that she is crushing the small amount of self-esteem he might have developed in the past few years because of her. I should really pull Chandler aside right now and stop all of this crazy freaking out that he is doing over nothing.

And, if it were anyone else, I would. Anyone else but the two of them. But, the two of them are just so…wonderfully neurotic together. Well, they are neurotic apart, so I think that there would have to be a new term invented to encompass the neurotic mess that is Chandler and Monica Bing.

But, I know they'll be okay. They'll work it out. Because, for all I put them, or at least Chandler, down, they are good together. They work. I would call them lobsters, but since the whole Ross and Rachel fiasco, I did some research, and discovered that lobsters don't mate for life. While male lobsters are quite romantic and loving at the time of the whole mating process, they are actually huge man-whores and love 'em and leave 'em. Joey could be a lobster. Monica and Chandler, not so much.

No, they're good together. So, even though Chandler's head is about to explode, because Monica and Don are onto their shared love of music, as well as a passion for food, I won't. It might be evil, but, eh, I'm a bit evil. And I know they'll work it out.

All relationships need a healthy dose of conflict anyway, right?

Ross or Joey next? I'm tackling each of the characters in a first person POV fic (in case you haven't noticed…), and the last two I seriously did do from the requests given in reviews :) So, review, please and thanks, and I'll hopefully be updating both of my series soon!
