One Last Time

For one last time, I look into her deep blue eyes, dulled now by the night that closes in on us. Her lank yellow hair, once shining like molten gold in the sunlight, lays listlessly on the bed around her pale face, once healthy, shining with life, with the laughter of her soul that played across her picturesque visage. The disease that is now finally stealing her from me forever has already stolen all that she was, the bright shining beacon of life and laughter and hope… My reason for living.

"Pegasus…" she whispers.

I kiss her one last time.
