A/N: Reading the Gamefaqs for Final Fantasy and this character stuck out for me. :D Haven't even found the games yet to play them.
Black Belt
His name does not tell of his experience.
Black Belt is what they call him. He is always Black Belt, but at the beginning he lacks the precision of a seasoned fighter. His punches have good strength behind them, but poor aim. He misses too often, and, sometimes, a miss can be very bad thing.
He gets better as he levels up; his aim improves. His skill improves as well, and eventually he earns the rank of Master. Being a Master doesn't change him: Black Belt is still who he is, and who he'll stay. It doesn't change his prowess either; he doesn't get random new powers or a sudden influx in strength. He doesn't even get a weapon.
But he's Black Belt: that's his name, and that's all there really is to it.
