Strolling

Disclaimer: I don't own any of Miss. Austen's beautiful characters. I don't pretend to either.

The real reason the Gardiner's walked so slow...

"They soon out stripped the others and when they had reached the carriage, Mr. and Mrs. Gardiner were half a quarter of a mile behind." (Pride and Prejudice chapter 38 or chapter one volume three)

"We are falling behind, my dear" Mr. Gardiner told his quickly recovering wife. "It's alright. They'll wait for us at the carriage."

"That wasn't my concern. Should we be leaving them like that?"

"They won't come to harm. Lizzy hates him, remember?"

"What are you devising, dear woman?" he asked with suspicion.

"Nothing, dear." She said with a secret smile. "They just need a little encouragement"

Mr. Gardiner shook his head, smiling. "Women"

Lizzy and Mr. Darcy were getting farther and farther ahead of them. "What is taking so long?" she thought as she walked with Mr. Darcy. "I have never known my aunt to tire so quickly."

AN: just a blurb, I was reading this part, taking notes for English class. I thought it was very convenient for Mrs. Gardiner to get so tired and to walk so very slow. The visit to Pemberly is one of my favorite parts!
