A six year old Shawn sat on the porch dangling his feet over the edge. She didn't like him. How could she not like him? Why did Ms.Trowers not like him?

"Shawn, where were you?" His father's voice knocked him out of his trance.

"I was walking around"

"You were walking around." his voice sounding a bit agitated. " Shawn do you have any idea how much training could've been done while you were walking around?" His voice raising a little more with every word he said, but Shawn didn't care. It was the training's fault, all the training's fault. If he hadn't noticed the ring on a certain finger he would've never found out. He would've like to be oblivious to that fact. He would've been able to live his life perfectly fine, but no he couldn't. It was all because of his obsessive dad and stupid training.

"And why may I ask were you walking around?"

"You wouldn't understand." was Shawn's reply. He turned his heel and was ready to walk off. He was in no mood for this today.

"Shawn come back here when I'm talking to you." Shawn came back. why did he always have to listen to him? " Now sit," he pointed to the spot beside him. "Good, now what this about me not being able to understand."

"It's 'cause you won't." Shawn decided to talk up he had enough of this.

"Aren't you suppose to be at the stage when you come home and can't wait to tell your parent what had happened. And here i thought I'd be waiting another eight years for the rebellious stage."

Shawn hanged down his head, he was in for it big time. Him and his big mouth.

Henry looked at Shawn for a while in deep thought. then he spoke up. "Is this by any chance because of Ms.Trowers?" Shawn let out a whimper.

"Oh I see."

"She's getting married, I saw the ring on her finger." Shawn's voice croaked as he said it.

"Now Shawn if crying wont make this better, so stop."

"Okay." he sniffled.

"Alright first things first, did you ever let on that you liked her." Shawn shook his head. "That's a good thing you know, because if she knew it would've hurt more." Shawn was all ears at this point. He didn't Know here his father was going with this but he was going to give him a shot. "When people get to see your emotions Shawn, they take advantage of it. So never let them see a sweat or a cry. It's like when you're dealing with a criminal."

'Yup here it was.' thought Shawn, 'Here was the cop reference. Why couldn't he have a converstion without mention something cop related.'

"When crriminals see that softer side to you or any point of weakness, they use it and it will lead to your downfall. So it's good you know to never show how you truly feel."

Henry paused for a moment contemplating whether or not he should say what he was going to say. "If anything Shawn goof it off, no one will ever suspect anything. It's the perfect disguise."

Shawn looked at his father. That must've pained him a lot to say giving him permission to goof off. Shawn also wondered if what he said would've really work. People have said that when when you act out something for quite a while, it becomes real so maybe, maybe he could think about it. Maybe it would even fool Henry, after all it's the perfect diguise.
