He could see the pained look in Yue's eyes. He looked at the hurt and grief that had not disappeared from those beautiful pale spheres, even after a century without his lover. He wanted to comfort him, to help him smile once again.

"Still... I wanted to wait for Clow... It is not that I dislike the new mistress..." From Yue came out a soft, pleading voice. Somehow it was much more innocent, like that of a hurt child, and it sounded much more like that of his other self, Yukito. It did not go with the stoic Guardian everyone was familiar with. Everyone except Clow, the only man Yue had loved, had trusted, enough to show what he deemed his "weak" side. It broke Eriol. This should not be happening. It was wrong.

"So you mean that you like her very much," Eriol said in his softest voice as he walked up to the Guardian.

"But..." Still the voice shattered Eriol, but he had to carry on with the mission his past life had left him.

"Clow isn't in this world anymore. But if you would like, we can always talk about your memories together with Clow, whom you loved dearly. "

"...Clow..." Eriol wondered how he continued to smile, despite feeling himself break into pieces.

"I am very glad I came here and was able to meet Sakura-san, Keroberos, and you. Besides, there were some things I could not predict." A surprised sound came out from Yue, and Eriol continued. "The first, was the heart of your temporal form, Yukito. I had expected him to fall for Sakura and love her more than anything in the world. And the second was Sakura's heart. Both ended up differently from what I had expected."

He exchanged looks with the Guardian for a few seconds, before turning around to open the door behind him.

A flash of something agonized that nobody saw appeared on Eriol's eyes. For he had left something untold. For he would forever be haunted by memories that did not truly belong to him, memories in which he strolled gardens of blooming flowers with a laughing Guardian who reserved his true smile just for him.

Eriol, having left his last wrong prediction go unmentioned, put on his best smile and returned to the party.

And so, there goes my first story. Please let me know what you think. This is just something I wrote quickly while procrastinating, but I kind of liked it. Only kind of.
