My Untitiled Daikari

Short and sweet. One of my better works in my opinion. Sad fic, as in someone died.
DISCLAIMOR: no. don't EVEN ask.
I stood above her grave. They lowered her casket inside. I took one long, last look at her before they forever incased her into a wooden box lined with blue linen. That was the last time she would ever have the light on her face.
Her soft hair. Her eyes, a very special shade of auburn. Never to see the light of day again. Me, never to touch her baby-soft skin. Run my hands through her hair. Kiss her. Look at her and say 'I love you.' Never.
My tear soaked face caught the sun's last rays. And it began to rain. Sprinkling first, then a monsoon. So much like my soul. My soul was raining tears.
I made sure to stay close to the buildings as I walked down the slowly flooding streets of Odaiba. It seemed everything was mourning her death.
It's my fault she's dead. I thought she loved him. I had settled it finally that she loved him. But she loved me. She's out of my hands now. Now, she's in the hands of the Lord, forever protected.
She truly loved me. But he refused to let her go her own way. He refused to believe it unless I loved her back. Which I used to, but I had had it set in my soul that she loved him. I would have helped her, though he kept it a secret that he wanted me to admit it. Showed no hints. If I had known, taken the hints in front of my face, none of this would have happened. Now, my tortured soul would put up another barrier, to keep me as steady as I was before.

Ten years later, I walked to the orphan house across town.
"Do you currently have unchristened children?" I asked.
"Come with me," the lady at the front desk said. "We just got six unnamed newborns. If we hurry, you can name one before anyone else does."
We ran to a door, and she opened it.
The cries of newborns filled my ears.
"Before you name any of the newborns, let this young man have a look."
I walked to the one furthest away.
It was a girl. She had delicate, light brown hair.
I picked her up. She ceased her crying, and opened her eyes.
My eyes widened, and she squealed.
Her eyes were a special auburn color. Like... hers.
"This one," I said. "Her name is Hikari Motomiya."
So what'd you think? Happy ending after all! Did you figure out who everyone was? if not, click here to email me for the answers.
And YES, they do get unnamed newborns, sadly. Dai got there just in time, the lucky guy.
Please remember to review, even if you don't have an FFN account!
