A/N: Here we go, 3/50 - 'Cry With a Smile' by After Forever.
This was originally going to be a story about HG mourning DM but then I realised I could never kill him off (sniff) so I changed it. Let's face it, no-one cares about Hermione really. :D
He still remembers the day it happened; the images playing in his mind so vividly that they could have been captured yesterday. But it's been many years since then...
More than anything, he remembers the glint in her eyes; the way they turned from their usual deep blue colour to a piercing green as a reflection of the Unforgivable curse.
As she fell to the floor, her hair cascaded in front of her face, shielding it from his view. How he wished he could have gazed upon it one last time...
Although, in retrospect he knew it was better for him to remember her as she was in the days prior to her murder. So full of life.
It would do him no good to dwell on images of his fallen angel.
Of course, he couldn't allow anyone to see how he was hurting. Merlin forbid a pureblood, especially one as infamous and beautiful as he, should ever fall so madly in love with someone of her social standing.
Blaise knew though. Blaise understood.
Draco never was quite sure how Blaise seemed to be so in sync with him, with these out of character feelings, but he never questioned it. He was just thankful that he had someone, just one person that he could be himself around when they were alone in the Common Room.
He didn't have to smile or plot or play the hideous Malfoy games. There were no patronizing relatives or members of the Ministry that he had to suck up to.
He could cry; he could scream; he could remember...
As soon as he left that room however it was back to perpetual wickedness. No tear dared to trickle down the pale cheeks and his lips did not quiver as they formed a malicious smile.
He was his old self again and no-one, other than Blaise and possibly Dumbledore, could tell any different. Nothing but evil showed on his face once the corners of his thin lips began to curl.
