Seeking East
"Irene, c'mon! The faster you move the less likely we'll both freeze to death!" Glaring at Lynn through my snow-covered eyelashes I grumbled "I'm going as fast as I can considering my legs are numb." I'll bet she rolled her eyes. I focused on the snow and on keeping my feet moving. The snow was seeping through the sleeves of my pants, soaking my cotton socks. I curled my toes continuously trying to squeeze out the water but the water then dripped into my shoes and my socks soaked up the water again. At least it was keeping my toes moving.
"Irene, dead shed up ahead." Lynn yelled back at me. I groaned. Infected guts. Fan-freaking-tastic. Carefully following her around the mess, I noticed with a grimace it wasn't frozen yet. I patted my friend's arm and she turned to me, "It's fresh." I spoke in her ear. She looked down at it briefly then nodded shortly. We'd just have to be careful. Infects only resort to killing each other when they're starving. Even if that wasn't the case, it must've been an animal. That would be even worse since it would have to be powerful to win against an infected without dying nearby; or even worse: An infected animal.
I shivered.
