AUTHORS NOTE
I own nothing, as usual. All mistakes ae mine.
I hope you enjoy this very brief story. I couldn't get the idea out of head and it was stopping me from working on my other story.
Please read and review as usual.
Sam took a deep breath, nodded to her reflection in the mirror and turned to face her father.
"I'm ready," she said smiling.
Jacob grinned at his daughter. "You look beautiful, sweetheart, just like your mother," he said fondly.
Sam felt tears forming in her eyes and blinked them away rapidly. "I wish she was here," she replied sadly.
Jacob pulled her into an awkward hug. "No sad tears today, Sammy," he chided playfully. "We both know she wouldn't want you to be sad today."
Sam nodded and gave him a shaky smile. "Don't wrinkle the dress," she said, pulling out of his embrace.
"I won't," he replied. "Are you ready?"
Sam nodded. "I think I am."
Jacob presented her with his arm. "In which case let us go find your groom."
Sam laughed, quickly checking her make up before rounding up her bridesmaids and flowergirls.
Sam's two neices had barely made it two steps down the aisle before they forgot everything they'd been told about walking slowly and scattering rose petals, instead running towards their mother who'd tried to remain hidden.
Thankfully Cassie and Janet had no problems walking in time to the music and reached the front just as Sam stepped into view.
Walking up the aisle felt like an eternity to Sam. She could hear her heartbeat and could feel the wind playing with her hair. Looking directly ahead she ignored the whispers of "ah, isn't she beautiful" to focus on where Jack, Teal'c and Daniel stood waiting.
Sam had been dreaming of her wedding since was a little girl and had always known that she wanted an outdoor wedding. Sam had never found anywhere that compared to the picture in her head.
The first time Sam had laid eyes on Jack's cabin she'd known it was the place she'd spent her childhood dreaming about. All she had to do then was find someone to marry.
She hadn't been at all surprised to have found her soulmate completely by accident. They'd been friends for years and she'd never thought that that friendship would develop into a full blown affair. She was glad it had happened though.
When he'd proposed it had been a dream come true. He'd taken her to a fancy restaurant, told her to wear something nice. She still remembered the feeling of disappointment when he'd asked for their coats with no proposal. She'd been so sure it was going to happen and she'd been fully aware of the ring shopping (Janet had excitedly asked her what type of ring she'd like and had given the whole thing away).
They'd gone for a moonlit stroll around the park afterwards and he'd proposed under the stars.
They told Janet and the rest of the team the following night and they'd been greeted with lots of excited hugs. Sam had turned around to Jack with one of her trademark smiles on her face. "Jack," she'd said. "I'd like to get married here."
Jack had pulled her into a hug. "Of course," he whispered, a far-off look on his face. He never had been able to say no to her.
The ceremony was beautiful, both having written their own vows. They'd wanted to include more but knew their request to mention off-world activity would be denied. They'd also wanted Thor to attend but knew that could never happen with Sam's family in attendance.
The registrar looked at the happy couple and turned to the crowd. "May I have the pleasure of introducing Mr and Mrs Jackson."
Sam and Daniel had exchanged happy smiles, both too caught up in the moment to bother correcting her.
