There's a saying: "Forgive and Forget." Here's another: "Forgive but Never Forget." Everyone has heard them.
There's no way I'll ever forget what you did to me. How can I when you haunt my dreams and turn them into nightmares? How do I forget when a lover runs her hands down my back, over the scars, and I flinch? You're my father. The scars shouldn't be there, much less by your own hand.
But you are my father. And I need to move on.
