Chapter 1: Summer
Shukuro Tsukishima monologue.
I met Xiaoyu on a week-long banquet held at the Ling Manor early summer. When I first laid my eyes on her I said to myself, she's the one and I'm going to make her mine. I shook my head afterwards. It's next to impossible you know. Xiaoyu belongs to the Ling Clan, a noble clan, while I belong to a family without even a trace of nobility. We're wealthy though that's why we got special invitation to the banquet.
I live alone at my mansion just near Ling Manor. Maintenance comes every night and meals are prepared on time by a stay-in chef, oh that makes the two of us in the mansion by the way. There are 50 rooms in my mansion but only 3 are being used: master's where I sleep, the library which is also my music room, and the chef's quarters. Among those three, the library is the biggest. I had it built in a considerable size because I want to have much space for my books because I'm a bookworm, just so you know. Aside from the books inside the library, there's a 50-year-old white grand piano that I inherited from my mom standing at the center of the room. Oh and don't forget my favorite place in the mansion, the garden. It's where I always have a clear sight of Xiaoyu before she goes to bed. Hey, don't get me wrong, I'm not a stalker! I just admire my Xiaoyu since we lived here, under the jurisdiction of their family.
The week-long banquet was to celebrate the turning over of leadership to Princess Ling Xiaoyu. She's now the head of Ling clan, and ever since she became the head of the Ling clan, she's always found breaking out of the manor for adventure. She's also the kind of woman who speaks her mind. One day after a successful getaway, she passed by my mansion. I was gardening that time. When I saw her I immediately stop from doing my work and paid my respect to the princess, though it seems like she didn't notice me at all.
She looked around, I don't know what she's looking for, and ran towards my Bloodgood Maple Tree and started to thrust herself up. I was watching her carefully as I walked near the tree when her foot slipped through one of the branches and her shoe fell on my face. Oh my! I didn't know princesses have to wear such heavy shoes! Are those meant for self-defense? Ouch! Her shoe bounced from my face to my hands. I was planning to secretly run away with the shoe to make it a souveneir when I heard her shout. Oh no! She's falling too!
She ended up falling on my arms, her eyes closed and arms over her face. Time stopped as she opens her eyes to look at me. She then spread her arms and leaped to encircle them on my neck. I heard a soft, thank you.
Putting her on her feet, we started to walk toward the mansion. I invited her for some tea. I opened the door and gestured for her to come in, she stopped and asked me if it's ok with me to have a getaway princess to enter my mansion. I said I don't mind... as long as I won't get killed of doing so. She laughed gently then walked right in.
