She missed him and often found herself wondering if he missed her.
He missed her. He would sit around wondering if she missed him too.
She wondered if he ever thought of her. She walked around in a daze sometimes, thinking about him.
He was useless. Thoughts of her filled his head. Anything else was pushed away. All his thoughts were of her. Her dreamers brown eyes, her laugh, her smile. Her. He wondered if she ever thought of him.
She could she his face in her mind. His easygoing smile, his sparkling blue eyes. Him. She wanted him so badly, but knew he'd never want her.
He needed her. He couldn't live without her, but he knew she'd never want him.
She knew they would be together again soon, not that it would matter to him. They were just friends. Nothing more. They always would be. She wished it were different though.
He was glad they would be together again. He knew it made no difference. They were just friend, but the thought of her being near was comforting.
She was waiting. She was usually patient but not for this. She needed to see him, to know he was safe.
He wanted to leave. He had to see her, soon. He had to see her, he had to know she was fine.
She watched them approach. Her eyes on him. He was here at last. She smiled, for the first time since he left, at the thought of him being near.
He scanned his eyes along the wall looking for her. As he spotted her he smiled, for the first time since he left.
She watched as he rode through the gates at the head of the group. Her eyes met his. He smiled. The smile that made her heart explode into frantic fluttering. She smiled in return
He scanned the crowd as he rode through the gates, looking for her. His eyes found hers. He smiled. She smiled in return, her soft shy smile. He was glad he was on a horse or he would have fainted with the relief of seeing her safe and happy.
She followed him with her eyes as he dismounted and approached her. he greeted her, and she him.
He greeted her normally, with a joke and laugh, but inside his head he was picturing them together. Never. He knew it would be never.
Their friend watched. They spoke, hey laughed, they joked, but something was different. They were more thoughtful, more distant.
She thought of him often, too often perhaps. She noticed he was distant. She thought there might be someone else he was interested in.
He made jokes, laughed, had fun, but all the while he watched her. Watched her as she trained, as she ate, as she read. He wished they could be together.
She went on with her life, but always thinking of him. There was one thing she knew for certain.
He was fascinated by her. She was so undemanding yet got so much respect. She was confusing, but there was one thing he knew.
She was in love.
He was in love.
