In another world, where the Death Note didn't exist and neither did the world's greatest detective, Yagami Raito and L Lawliet could have been friends.

But there was no such world. The Death Note – Death Notes – were omnipresent, and so was crime…and wherever crime existed, there must also exist a person to try to put an end to it. So Raito and L were always pitted against each other – because whether the Death Note fell into Raito's hands or not, there was a difference of opinion between them.

The Death Note was an obstacle between them that simply couldn't be removed, and it was a shame because the both of them could have been much better people if only fate had allowed it.
