Lady Deadly Nightshade: This is a one shot on Byakuya and Hisana. I had this scene in my head for a few days now and it wouldn't leave me alone so I finally wrote it out. I hope you like it!

Just A Dream

He stood on a wooden bridge listening to the running water of the river that ran underneath him. The river's current and an occasional serenade from a cricket, that must have been somewhere near by, were the only sounds the Inuzuri district of Rukongai had to offer him so late at night. There wasn't another person around and that's what he enjoyed the most of his late night walks, it allowed him to get lost in his thoughts.

He let his mind wander as he stood on that bridge, illuminated by the iridescent silvery light of the moon that hung high in the sky above him. He didn't know how long he was standing there when he heard footsteps on the bridge. Instinctively his hand went to the hilt of his zanpakutō, Senbonzakura, which was tied at his waist with a white obi. With his hand still on Senbonzakura, he waited until his visitor walked into the moonlight before he made a move. The light of the moon revealed a petite women with black hair and dark eyes, dressed in a white kimono.

His eyes widened and he gasped softly as he took in her appearance. He tried to speak but he seemed unable to find his voice.

"Hello Byakuya-sama." She greeted him with a smile on her face. She came within five feet of him and then she bowed respectfully to him.

He still couldn't find his voice, his dark eyes just gazed at her and then suddenly he closed the space between them and wrapped his arms around her. "How can this be?" He whispered. She was standing in front of him, warm and solid to his touch, but it couldn't be possible. It just couldn't.

"Is this really appropriate behavior for a noble in public?" She chided him teasingly, soft giggles escaping from her lips.

"I don't care," He replied. "I've missed you." His arms tightened around her.

"Me too." She replied softly. She freed one of her arms and gently placed her hand on his cheek.

His eyes closed at the feel of her warm hand on his cheek and he moved his face so that his lips caressed her palm and he laid a soft kiss on it.

She smiled at his affection but it was a sad smile. "I shouldn't have done this. This makes it hard for you to forget me, but I needed to see you." She said sadly. "I'm still so selfish." She frowned.

He opened his eyes and peered into hers. "So am I," He told her. "I can't forget you and I've wanted to see you for so long."

"I can't stay." She told him. "I have to go."

"Don't go." He told her, still holding her tightly.

"I'm sorry." She told him sadly.

"I won't let you go again." He told her determined, his voice wavering a bit on his words.

She smiled at him and using the hand still on his cheek, she guided his face down to hers and she kissed him gently on his lips. "It doesn't matter," She said after the kiss. "This is only a dream."

The bright light caused him to open his eyes and he saw that he was in bed in his room, not on a bridge underneath the moonlight. Most disheartening was that he was alone. Hisana was indeed right when she said it was dream. A dream that left a warm sensation on his lips.

Lady Deadly Nightshade: It was terrible wasn't it? Lol! I've been out of 'writing' practice for years!
