"I can't believe its raining. And on Halloween too," said a pouting Naruto to his teammates.
"And, don't forget Kakashi-sensei is late again too," replied a frowning Sakura.
The threesome was sitting under the trees waiting for Kakashi to arrive and tell them what their missions for the day were.
There was a poof of smoke and Kakashi appeared next to Sakura reading his book.
"Today is a day free of missions, so have fun," he disappeared, leaving a confused and annoyed team seven.
"I can't believe it. He shows up and tells us there are no missions."
"Sakura, Sasuke, I plan on having a Halloween party tonight. Wanna come?" Naruto asked eagerly.
"Well-" Sakura hesitated.
"There's nothing better to do tonight. Sure, why not?" Sasuke said.
"Of course."
That evening Naruto had the entire rookie nine plus team Gai at a special location (an abandoned house down the street). The building was long and, in the backyard, there was a porch and a garden. Upon entering the house they noticed it has a low ceiling. Inside the furniture was old and slightly dusty.
"C'mon Naruto, what's this all about?" Kiba asked impatiently.
"First, I thought we could tell scary stories or something."
"Good, cause I have a good one," Kiba said, smirking.
One time, there were three friends and their dog. Hinata, Kiba, Shino, and Akamaru were all taking a midnight walk the night after a particularly long mission. Shino saw a bug he was particularly interested in and decided to examine it. It landed on a sakura tree and, with giant fangs, began to suck at the tree. The tree itself looked like it was dying. The color of the sakura blossoms was fading.
"What kind of bug is that? A vampire bug?" Kiba laughed.
"Quiet Kiba, don't you hear that?"
They listened intently; Kiba enhanced his hearing and heard the noise Shino had mentioned.
"W...what is it?" Hinata asked.
"It's coming from the ground," Kiba stated, placing his ear to the ground.
Something was slithering underground and, as the sound became louder, something came up from the ground and grabbed Kiba. It wrapped its snake like body around him and dragged him toward the tree. The tree itself sprang forth more roots that bound Shino, Akamaru, and Hinata. Their screams were heard as the trunk of the tree opened a hole that resembled a mouth. They all struggled inside the tree. If they didn't do something quickly the tree would crush them and use their blood to keep its flowers from fading.
Shino began summoning all the termites he could. Having no other choice, they ate through the tree until they were free.
"What was that?" Naruto claimed, "I could tell a better story than that. That was about man-eating trees."
"Yeah? Then go ahead and tell one!"
"Okay then. This story is called…"
