Anna.

"Anna! Get your lazy ass up here!" Her father yelled. She had spent the night in the basement, her punishment for stealing bread from the pantry. She was just so hungry. "Coming Father!"
She yelled and then put on a pair of jeans and a light blue T-shirt. She ran up the stairs to see her father standing there, with Corporal Levi. "F-Father." She curtsied and then curtsied at Levi. "Tch." He said and scowled. "The proper greeting for meeting your commander is a salute. An arm on your back and a fist on your heart." He said and demonstrated. She blushed. "Sorry, Sir!" She said and then copied his movement. "Father, may I go eat a bit of breakfast?" She asked hesitantly. "Of course! Anything for you, Princess." He said and smiled. She gagged a little bit. "Don't." She said. "Don't what, sweetie?" He asked innocently. "Don't pretend like you don't hurt me when no one else is around. After you killed my big brother, I'm surprised you haven't killed me yet." She said and then shrugged. "Just don't." She went into the kitchen and put some butter on a piece of bread, eating it slowly and savoring it. "She definitely has the potential. How old is she?" She heard Levi ask from the living room. "Anna is sixteen." Her father replied. She heard a whistle from Levi. "Pretty young don't you think? The youngest for training is 18. She is not 18." "That's why I asked you here. Could she have early admittance?" Her father asked. She stood up and quickly walked into the living room. "Darling, go back to your room." Her father said behind a fake smile. "No. If you two are discussing whether or not I join the training regime, I think I should be involved in this conversation." She said and then took a seat next to Levi. He smiled just a tiny bit and then stretched out, putting his arm on the back of the couch. "I think I could make an exception for this one. She is a fighter indeed." Levi said and then took a quick glance at her, giving her a slight wink, one that her father didn't notice. "Good. I'd like her out as soon as possible." Her Father said, not smiling anymore. "Next week should be fine. I'll come get her on Tuesday." Levi stood up. "Wait. Can I come with you now? The sooner the better." She said standing up and looking Levi in the eyes, shorter than him. "Fine. Pack your bag. 5 minutes." He said and then went outside to his horse. "HOW DARE YOU DISRESPECT ME IN FRONT OF HIM!" Her father said and then smacked her across the face, sending her across the room. She stood up and ran towards him, then punched him back. "Goodbye, Dad." She said and grabbed a bag stuffing 2 changes of clothes, a picture of her brother, and her toothbrush and hairbrush in it. She walked out of the door and met Levi at the gate. "What happened to your face?" He asked. "Nothing. Just dealt with a problem that's now behind me." She said and then got on the back of the horse. "Why did you join the Scouting Regiment, Heichou?" Anna asked Levi. "I've got my reasons. Now keep your damned mouth shut." The next house they stopped at was small, and quaint. A boy, looking to be about 17, walked outside. He hopped on one of the horses behind her and Levi. He started to whistle a nursery tune as they rode, stopping at multiple houses. Tears stung her eyes. That was the tune that Maki used to hum. She looked back at the boy and gave him a death glare. "Could you please stop whistling that tune, Sir?" She asked, a bit more attitude than she expected to give. He looked at her and smiled widely "Of course!" He said. She sighed. Maki would have been about his age now.
