Disclaimer: If I owned Inuyasha, I would not be sitting in my one room apartment writing fan fictions when I should be doing my homework now would I?
AN: A little comparison between Kagome and Kikyou from Inuyasha's point of view. Absolutely no plot. Came to me as I was playing with the smoke that came from some incense. I really am so easily amused.

I always compared Kikyou to smoke.
I could smell her. I could see her. But I could never capture her. She would always slip through my fingers, just like the smoke I always thought of her does.
But Kagome⦠she's like the candle that the smoke emanates from.
She's solid, touchable, and I can hold her whenever I want. She shines light on everything that she comes in contact with. Unlike Kikyou, unlike smoke that always makes people run and hide for fear of a fire.
But still, smoke does come from a candle. That's the little bit of Kikyou that I saw in Kagome. But, unlike Kikyou, Kagome does not act that way all of the time. That only happens when someone she loves is being threatened.
She is not Kikyou. She is Kagome. The candle that warmed my heart. Not the smoke that hardened it. And the candle that lights up my life. Not the smoke that cast a shadow over it.

AN: I know, I know. Sappy and stupid ending. You would think that after all of the writing that I do I would be better than this. But oh well. Read and review, if only to tell me how much I suck at this stuff.
