Author's note.

Disclaimer: I do not own Harry Potter or The Inheritance Cycle.

I wanted to start a new story like this so I did. This story is AU, by the way. It has slight differences from the original stories. Anyway here's the prolouge and I hope you enjoy it. Review to tell me what you think!

Prolouge

A man and woman strided into Hogwarts, each had a look of determination on their faces.

The woman was beautiful. Her golden hair, that framed her face perfectly, shone like the sun and her golden eyes flashed as they examined every inch of the grounds. She wore a golden blouse with a long gold skirt that flowed down almost to her feet and she wore shoes that were so thin that they hardly seemed to be there. If you looked closely you could see that her teeth were pointed and that her nails were sharp. You could tell just by her demeanor that she meant business.

The man was different. He had messed up raven black hair that looked like it hadn't been combed in days and emerald green eyes that were filled with light. He wore a black cloak and under the cloak were some light blue clothing that couldn't keep the cold out. He did not seem as serious as his companion but he still looked very formidable.

The two people walked through the corridors and up flights of stairs until they finally came to a portrait.

"Lemon drop." The man said, his voice deeper than most.

The portrait swung outwards to reveal an office where a woman sat at his desk. The woman did not bother to look at her visitors, instead she just said.

"What brings you, Mr. Potter, Jennata?"

"As much as it pains me to ask for it, we need your help, McGonagall." The man, Mr. Potter, said sending a look at Jennata, daring her to say otherwise. McGonagall didn't seem to notice that though instead she just asked.

"The war goes badly then?"

"Extremely. We have been trying to ward off the attackers but it is not working." Mr. Potter replied before lowering his voice and saying. "Thorn was killed three days ago."

McGonagall's eyes widened and she stared at them for a moment before asking.

"What about Murtagh?"

"He lives, he barely hangs on to his life, but at the moment he still lives." Jennata replied sadly.

McGonagall sat up straighter and then she asked.

"What exactly do you need of me, Mr. Potter, Jennata?"

"We need a couple of your students to become dragon riders. We will leave two eggs with you, they will hatch for two of your most worthy students. If they do, then you must find out which student they hatched for and alert us." Mr. Potter explained their plan. "We will then take these students to our realm where we will teach them our ways until they are ready for battle. When the war is over, we will return them to you and it will be as if this never happened, with the exception of the students getting dragons."

"Mr. Potter! If you are suggesting what I think you are suggesting then I absolutely refuse! I will not allow any of my students to come to harm, forget fighting in a war!" McGonagall exclaimed standing up and glaring at them.

"And they will not. You know as well as I do that no dragon will allow their rider to get hurt on their watch." Mr. Potter said before adding. "Jennata wouldn't even let me come here by myself, I had to cast that transfiguration spell on her!"

"That was an extremely smart idea on your part, little one, because if you had left me behind, I would have killed you." Jennata growled at him.

"We all know that you wouldn't have but we are getting off subject." Mr. Potter turned back to McGonagall. "Please, McGonagall, you must help us. If we don't get help from you, then Alagasia is doomed. Please."

McGonagall thought it over for a minute, weighing the pros and cons. On one hand, the students could get injured or killed and their parents may not like them being dragon riders. On the other, an entire realm could be doomed in they didn't go and most riders are happier after their dragons hatch than they have ever been before. After a few minutes, McGonagall said.

"I will do it."

Mr. Potter and Jennata grinned and they both placed an egg on her desk. They turned to go but before they could leave, McGonagall asked.

"Harry, should I remove the memory spells over your children and Teddy?"

Harry spun around and said quickly.

"Unless one of them becomes a dragon rider, then those spells will stay on them forever. I don't care if they don't remember me, they must not know."

McGonagall nodded reluctantly and then Jennata and Harry left her office in a hurry. As soon as they were out of the castle, they disappeared, not apparated, just disappeared as if they were never there in the first place.
