Hawkgirl stood on the edge of the roof over a nameless city after another battle. She takes time to remembering the last battle just completed with the help of the Justice League.
After her battle with Grundy. After the invasion where she lost everyone's trust she did try to go back. But she could not stand the stares and the looks of the newer Leaguers. The pain and betrayal of the original ones and knowing she was at fault.
She went to john to apologize and talk. They did talk for a while among other things to pass the time. But she didn't know John could be just as cruel as she was.
So here she stands watching the people below her. She crouches down and listens staying hidden.
"Where is she?" asked The Flash, a slight puzzled expression on his face. He was one of the nicer ones when she was back. Treating her just the same as before if not a little more protective. " Why should it matter she has made her choice, once yet again." said Wonder Woman. Otherwise known as Diana.
Clueless thought Shyera. I gave up everything my home, my family, my respect, so that you and everyone else could live knowing it wouldn't be enough.
But that went unnoticed or just uncared for.
"I sensed something different within her" The Martian Manhunter said ignoring her. "She didn't give her all. Holding back like that! So now what? She cant take a hit. I an ashamed I once thought of her as a sister.
She brushed off the hurt, like she had done everything and anyone else that threw dirty comments her way.
Though she still listened hoping Diana's notice wouldn't be too noticed. Shyera noticed Lantern was missing with a slight pain. One of the only things that caused her pain still. Of course she knew he was most likely with Marie. Vixen. Her. She thought of his last words to her.
A heavy sigh and then " I just cant, Marie should be waiting for me." then he walked away.
Focusing in she once again payed attention to the last of the conversation. Batman looked directly at her and spoke. "If she wanted to be found she would be" then walked toward the Javelin. The others soon followed.
She stood back up and thought with a bitter sorrow.
Rex, At least I have something to look forward to.
With silent flap she took of into the night. The thought of just surviving and trying to live life for two on her mind.
