So I've been wanting to do a Rose/Jasper moment for quite some time now, and this is what I came up with. Set after the vote in New Moon
JPOV
I watched Edward rush Bella out of the room, worried of what else we would agree to if she stayed any longer. The emotions of everyone swirled around me, as varied as a colour wheel. Though all of us exuded some small amount of sorrow and none more strongly than Rosalie.
"You're all fools." She murmured into the silence before flitting from the room without so much as a whisper of air.
We all exchanged glances, wandering if to some degree she was right.
I followed after her, her scent leading me onto the roof, where she was sitting, knees drawn to her chest, gazing into the night sky.
"You're all fools." She repeated again, without moving her gaze of the stars "and none more so than Bella."
"We could deny her no longer," I reminded her gently "Are you willing to sacrifice Edwards life to grant Bella a mere fifty years of humanity, and that's just assuming she escapes the Volturi first. Those years would pass like days to us, and then, for the rest of the eternity we deal with the loss of a brother. He will not go on without her."
"It's selfish." She retorted "He's selfish, you're selfish, everyone's so bloody selfish, not thinking for one moment what this will do to Bella's life."
"And so what if it is selfish? So what if Bella's life is sacrificed for his?" I demanded cruelly "It's a sacrifice she makes willingly."
"It's a sacrifice she makes in ignorance." Rose hissed the word venomously, her frustration overwhelming me. "She thinks she knows what she's giving up, she thinks that Edwards love is all she will ever want, all she will ever need, and who can blame her for that notion? She's young. We are the ones who know better, we are the ones who understand what it is she is giving up, we are the ones who should stop her."
I shook my head as I contemplated that, she was right of course, we were all governed by selfish reasons for turning Bella, but that in and of itself did not make it the wrong choice.
"There are hardships to this life," I agreed slowly "but the difference between you and us Rose, is that we consider the pain and privation worth it, for in this life we found our soul mates. If we were to be given the chance to do it over, we would, and we trust that Bella, no matter how much time passes, will feel this way too. You however..."
"I would rather have died that night in Rochester." She finished for me.
I'm not certain how well that came out, I may decide to actually delete it off soon, but I'll wait and see the reviews first. (and if you missed my subtle hint...PLEASE REVIEW)
