Jack and Teal'c stared intently at each other over a black and white chess board. The battle raging between them was unlike anything either of them had seen off world. Jack reached slowly for a piece, then drew his hand back and shook his head, then reached for a different piece. This time he took hold of a pawn and moved it forward one space. Jack folded his hands behind his head and pushed his chair back onto its back legs looking smug. Without hesitation, Teal'c reached out, grabbed a demolitions expert, and destroyed Jack's general infantry.

Jack let his feet slip, and his chair rocked back onto all four legs: "You know, Teal'c, that's why you continue to lose miserably. You don't think enough. You just grab a piece and move it."

"We are currently playing our eleventh game of the day, and I have not lost once."

"I was going easy on you."

"Please cease to do so."

"Teal'c, do you have a death wish?"

Teal'c reached under the table, pulled out a Zat, and showed it to Jack. "I do not. That is why I am never unarmed."

"Ok, you can put that away. Point taken."

"I was merely demonstrating that I have no wish to die."

"Well it worked. Ok, if you're sure you're ready, I'll play straight."

"I am ready."

"Good."

Jack and Teal'c turned back to the board. Jack stared thoughtfully at it, planning his next move. Five minutes later, neither of them had gone, and Jack was still contemplating the chess pieces.

"Will you just go already?" Daniel asked from the doorway.

Jack, startled, attempted to spin one hundred and eighty degrees and stand up at the same time, an action which only resulted in the table being sent flying backwards towards Teal'c, who went over backwards and knocked over a bookcase. Jack leapt out of the way of the falling bookcase, only to hit the desk and send it and he crashing into a set of shelves holding various archeological artifacts brought back from off-world missions. Ten seconds later, nothing was in its rightful place in Daniel's office, and Jack and Teal'c were being carried down to the infirmary.
