Welcome To Earth, Yui
Kirito walked with Asuna down the street holding hands together. "So what is this big surprise your dad's former developers have for us?" Kirito asked.
"I wish I knew." Asuna replied. "I think they are just trying to extend their gratitude to us for saving their children from being trapped in that game." Kirito nodded as he thought back to the events in the world of Sword Art and then Alfheim. He knew Asuna and he had saved many lives those few times, but this was the first time they had anyone offer him a token of gratitude. Asuna and Kirito walked up to the entrance of a giant research facility located in the city. A guard at the gate ushered them in and they were met by a woman in a lab coat.
"Greetings." She said with a bow, "I am Kato Miyu. You two must be Kirito and Asuna."
"We be them." Kirito replied. The woman readjusted her glasses.
"Follow me. My team and I have something to show you." She walked into the research building and Kirito and Asuna followed closely behind her.
"I must thank you, Kirito." Miyu said as they walked down a hallway. "Your actions saved my son's life."
"Thank you." Kirito replied sheepishly.
"So what is it that you wanted to show us?" Asuna asked.
"Come here." Miyu replied opening a door. "You'll see inside."
Kirito and Asuna followed her into a large dimly lit room with many technicians sitting at computer monitors. In the center of the room, a large table was set. There was a metal robot body on the table with various wires running from the head to the computers. Kirito noted that the robot was extremely human-like in shape.
"You see," Miyu said indicating towards the metal robot, "My technicians and I are on the verge of a scientific breakthrough: AIs that can live amongst us in mechanical bodies such as this. With this technology, we can let digital entities roam free in the real world and mingle amongst us like normal human beings." Kirito and Asuna looked at each other and a similar thought seemed to run through their minds: Yui. "And that is why we called you tow here." Miyu continued. "There have been rumors flying around that you two possess a highly intelligent sentient AI named Yui. We were hoping that you may assist us in the final phase of testing this technology by allowing Yui to test it first. If it works, you two can keep her. What do you say?"
Asuna was on the verge of tears from happiness. Kirito immediately pulled out a USB from his pocket.
"She's in this USB." Kirito replied. "I brought her out of my Nervegear RAM in case we ever needed to talk."
"Excellent" Miyu replied. Kirito handed her the USB and she handed it to one of the technicians. The guy plugged the USB into the computer and soon a whirling sound could be heard as a stream of code ran across the screen. The lights flickered and Asuna held onto Kirito for safety. The metal figure in the middle of the room began to hum, then began to glow with a blue light before suddenly the eyes flew open.
"Huh?" it asked with a little girl's voice, "Where am I?"
Asuna and Kirito looked over her.
"Momma? Papa?"
"Hello Yui." Asuna said with tears coming from her eyes, "Welcome to Earth. You're finally here."
