They had been separated when the orcs had attacked. One in each direction both fighting yet not together. Elrohir had felt it when Elladan had had an arrow pierce his body. He had run to Elladan, demanding that he be okay. They would take him to Rivendell and their father would take care of him.

Elrond had taken one look at the wound and shaken his head. Elrohir knew what this meant but didn't except it.

Later when they stood at the harbor and Elladan was helped too the ship that would carry him to the Grey Havens he had run to his brother, telling him not to leave him, not to go. He had felt his father pulling him away, telling him it was alright. Elrohir didnt sleep that night.

I can't believe that you're really gone now.
Seems like it's all just a dream
How can it be that the world would go on
When something has died within me

two years later and every thing still reminded Elrohir of Elladan. The lesson that he learned. The food that they ate. Everything.

Elrond tried to comfort him. Everyone did. They told him he would see Elladan again some day. Forever.

Elrohir remembered when he and Elladan had made a promise to each other. A promise that they would sail together.

Elrohir slowly accepted that he wouldn't see Elladan again for a while but that he could remember him in everything he did.
