Prologue-
_
Long ago, there lived two races. Monsters and Humans.
But, the many years of growing tension between the two different races snapped, and a war broke out between them. 7 mages had decided to plan out a trap for the monsters, baiting the summit of Mt. Ebbot.
The monsters fell for it, and the mages had just started sealing them into the accursed mountain. But suddenly, One of the 7 mages, with a soul of DETERMINATION had revolted against the others, fighting them off as hard as they could. But the Red mage failed, and the monsters were sealed, along with the roars of the furious monster king.
The other six, PERSERVERANCE, BRAVERY, JUSTICE, INTEGRITY, KINDNESS, and PATIENCE, looked at the defeated mage in disgust.
Determination was a very respectable mage, being of a very rare trait. Not only that, but it was very mysterious as well. Nobody even knew what power it had, merely theorizing it.
The red mage had been highly respected, with fighting skills and excellent control of powers, he never gave up even if he never learned his soul trait. A feat few could achieve.
Without even being able to activate his soul trait, it was obvious that he was going to lose, but he didn't give up anyway.
Even though there was an impending punishment, he was still filled with DETERMINATION.
But all of that reputation was gone in an instant. As the 6 mages circled around DETERMINATION. Dirtied and scuffed about from fleeing, they stood on the old battlefield below the mountain.
All around were signs of war, broken trees and scattered plant matter. Dust flying in the air, and blood stains ingrained into the dirt. They dragged their prisoner to the battered cells, as well as put a magic restraint on his hands. He was chained down by countless steel balls, yet he still was DETERMINED to go on.
The mages had thought of a suitable punishment. This was treason, but there was only a handful of those with souls of determination left.
"We must do something for this plague to never shout a spell at us again!" Said the orange mage.
"No.. Those who commit treason should never be able to use the gift of language. The red mage is such a persuasive rat, we might have lost!" Said the yellow mage.
"And his offspring might commit treason against us now as well.. What if they awaken their soul trait? What if it is destruction?" Said the Purple mage.
"What if we let him go and he starts getting spiteful? It could be another war! You saw what he did with the chains!" said Yellow.
"A curse on his voice could work. If it were big enough, it could cover all those demons and give them what they deserve." said the Orange mage
"But wait!" Yelled a voice outside the crowd. "We just did the barrier, and if we get too tired the spell might disperse!" Said the teal mage.
"Then we must fuse the two spells. This way, the barrier will be stronger, and the two curses will last to eternity. Now let us begin! We have no time to waste in this glorious new era." Said the Leader.
They worked on the new spell until daybreak, and went to see the outcome of their damaged lands. The leader garbed in royal blue, Irwin Cobalt, sent his speech to the people awaiting consolation.
"It is settled! We have trusted these demons long enough. Shall they speak another word, their mouths will be filled with the color of their souls!" Said the Irwin, being met with cheers from the spiteful crowd.
That, is how everything started. All of those born with souls of determination were now considered "red demons", and were robbed of speech.
Coughing blood whenever they spoke. From there started a large discrimination, where those with souls of determination were treated much akin to beasts.
Children fled from them, people glared at them. Some were captured for zoos, baited to look vicious, and others were slaves.
The curse was passed down on all of those with determination, generation after generation. Slowly, the days of mages and monsters and magic faded away, as well as the knowledge of those existences.
The curse? not so much. The mages noticed that the civilians had been remembering about the monsters, and there had been some disorder in the place. Survivors of the battle and civilians suffered from the tolls of war, and many wished to die. The 6 mages had decided to erase a large majority memory of the monsters, leaving only enough for a rumor.
People with souls of determination couldn't have offspring with another SOUL trait, and this is why all of them had the curse.
They had used sign language to communicate, and converse with others. And although it took many generations of effort, they were re-integrated into society.
.
But that didn't stop the hate.
The traitor had a daughter as well, their name was...
