Ash tossed and turned in his sleeping bag. His eyes shot wide open. "I can't sleep." He said quietly. He sat up and stretched. He got up and walked to a small lake that was near the camping site. He climbed up a tree and stared at the lake.

For the last few weeks he could not stop thinking about his friend May. They had been traveling together with her brother Max, and his best friend Brock for quite sometime now. But only recently had he thought about her like this. He felt like telling her how he felt about her, how much she meant to him, but couldn't. What was stopping him?

"Misty." He said as a cool breeze swept through the area. "Wonder what she thinks of me?"

May awoke from her sleep and rubbed her eyes. She let out a yawn and looked to her side and saw that Ash had left. "Probably using the bathroom." She lay back down but couldn't fall back asleep. She decided to take a short walk.

She had been feeling the same exact way Ash has. The only thing stopping her from admiting her feelings. Fear that he might reject her and their whole friendship would be ruined and never be the same. She thought about this and it made her feel depressed. She shook him off her mind and decided to just sit and stare at the lake for a while.

"OK." Ash reached into his pocket. "One thing left to do." He took out a coin. "Heads, I wait till we get back to Kanto and ask Misty. Tails, first chance I get I'll tell May." He took a deep breath and and flipped the coin high in the air. The moonlight made it sparkle.

Just before it fell into Ash's hand, a wild Murkrow flew out of the tree and grabbed the coin in it's beak and flew off.

"Hey! Give me that coin back!" Ash jumped after it. He then realized that he had been sitting on a branch and plummeted to the ground, landing in front of May.

"Ash!" May cried. She blushed and helped him to his feet. "Where did you come from?"

"Stupid Murkrow." He grumbled as he rubbed the back of his head. "How am I supposed to decide between May and Misty now?"

"Decide on what?" May asked, curious to what he had just said.

"Whoops." Ash said. He had just realized that May had been sitting there.

"What were you just saying?" May asked.

"N-Nothing!" Ash tried to drop the subject, and walked back to camp.

"Come on! What did you say?" May caught up to him and stood in front of him.

"Don't worry about it!" Ash faked a smile and looked away.

"But I heard my name it has to do with me! Just tell me." May stomped her foot on the ground and crossed her arms.

Ash let out a sigh and turned his face away from hers. "It's kind of embarrassing." He admitted.

"I won't laugh." May said. She sounded like she meant it.

Ash sighed and looked away "Well I was up there thinking about who I should ask out. Misty or...you." He told her. "I couldn't decide so I left it to chance and flipped a coin.

May's face was red. "What did it land on?" She asked.

"That's just it. A Murkrow flew out of a branch and took it. Now I'll never know."

"Who do you think is the right person?" May said timidly.

"Well...to be honest." He paused and scoffed "Why am I even telling you this? It's not like you feel the same way right?" He walked past her.

"Wait Ash!" May called out. "I do care...I was thinking about how I should ask you out, and even if I should. I was just afraid that if you said no...it would ruin our friendship." She smiled at him.

Ash's cheeks flushed as he smiled back.

Murkrow flew along the night sky lazily. It's eyes grew heavy and was beginning to slow down. It opened it's mouth to yawn and dropped the coin.

"Murkrow!" He yelped as he swooped down for it but missed.

The coin landed on area with tall grass, heads facing up.

This story sounded really sappy in my head but I just felt like writing it. Review and tell me what you think.
