Anon Prompt (from Tumblr): Wendy tries to leave Neverland and she almost does succeed but Peter stops her at the last minute.
A/N: I didn't know if I should end it after Pan finds her or what, so I just guessed. Also, this is my first Darling Pan thing ever, so I hope I did what you wanted and I hope you like it.
It's late. The full moon is resting high in the sky; its light shining down onto the island of the Neverland. Typically the island was still awake at this hour, with the calls of the Lost Boys, the singing of the fairies, and the magical melody of the King's pan flute floating in the air, but tonight is different. Tonight all of Neverland is asleep. The Lost Boys are snuggled in their respective beds dreaming of the adventures that wait for them in the morning, and the King's pipes are lying on a shelf next to a fur covered pillow which his head lay upon.
The soft snores and the light of only the moon is what had awoken a young girl from her restless slumber. Her nightdress was covered in mud from the torment of the Lost Boys and her blonde hair matted from not being brushed for days.
Peering through the thick bars of her cage the girl saw no children, no fire, and no King; she's alone. Quickly, the girl reached into her bosom to pull out a dagger she had stolen a fortnight ago. Rubbing the blade against the twine which held her cage closed, the girl smiled for the first time in a long time. Now is her chance to run, she's alone and all the boys are asleep, including their ruthless King, Peter Pan.
As the rough twine finally broke lose, the girl didn't celebrate, she only ran. She ran faster than she's ever had to run before, and she didn't stop till she reached the water's edge. Squinting, her amber eyes, she tried to determine her location; she's at the east end of Marooner's Rock. Biting her lip the girl looked to the north and south, both directions seemed to be barren. Still indecisive of which way to go, she begins heading north, but as she runs she hears rustling in the bushes. Panicking, the girl turns around and begins her run again. The rustling noise fades in the distance.
It isn't too long before she spots the Jolly Roger in the distance. She could see her freedom now. Smiling once more, she tried to speed her pace as the images of reuniting with her brothers kept her fighting through the exhaustion. She's so close; she could feel her freedom at the tip of her fingers.
"Hook!" she screamed, waving her arms as she approached the ship, "Hook!"
"Aye, Captain? Captain, did you hear that?" she heard a rough voice yell; it was undoubtedly a pirate.
"What in God's name are you talking about, Mr. Smee?" The girl felt a rush of excitement at the burly echo of the all-too-familiar pirate's voice.
The girl was about to yell out the Captain's name once more before a hand swiftly covers her mouth.
"Shhh." She closed her eyes in defeat. Pan has found and caught her. "Now, I'm going to take you back to camp, so we can have a little 'discussion' about that little escape you just attempted."
Tears blossomed in the young lady's eyes, "Peter, please, I- I don't want to go back." Her tears fell. Turning around to face her captor she fell apart, falling to her knees with her face in her hands, weeping.
The boy let out a dark growl as he watched the dirty, petite girl.
"Get up, bird!" he ordered; the girl listened. "Let's go."
