Darkness Recovered
Shadow slowly gained consciousness. When he managed to open his eyes, he seemed to be in a violet room. The floor he was laying on felt wet, as if he was on some kind of substance thicker than water. He tried to get up, but his body felt very heavy. Shadow fell back on the floor after barely getting his back a few inches from the ground. However, Shadow wasn't ready to give up yet. He tried a few more times to get up, but each one ended right where it started.
Needless to say, Shadow was getting a bit irritated. He looked at his arms to see if something was holding him down. His eyes widened. His arms were strapped to the black floor by what looked like tentacles. In fact, they looked like they were parts OF the floor! Shadow looked at his legs; it was the same down there.
Shadow was starting to panic. He struggled to break free from his restraints, but to no avail. They felt like they were clinging to him. The hedgehog closed his eyes tried was hard as he could to get out. He eyes opened quickly once he felt something, like arms, on his torso. In that moment, whatever it was that was on his torso pulled him back to the floor.
The black hedgehog was terrified. When he looked at his torso, two black arms were tightly wrapped around him. Each had a clawed hand on it. Shadow then felt…a body…against his back. He was too scared to move.
Someone was under him.
Shadow watched as one hand slowly moved up the torso to his neck. Once there, the claw gently clutched it. Shadow trembled in its grasp. It was as cold against him. He could feel his heat racing through his neck. He managed to speak, but only a few words escaped him.
"No… Don't do it…"
Once he said that, the hand around his neck tightened. Shadow was having trouble breathing at this point, both from fear and the tightened grip.
"No! Let me go!"
The claw ignored his commands and gripped even harder. Tears began to form in his red eyes. The claw was so cold; he never thought anything could feel like this! A plea managed to escape him as a tear fell to the floor.
"Please…it hurts…"
The claw stopped for a moment. It released its grip on the hedgehog, letting him breath. His breaths were deep with coughs between some of them. The claw gently massaged the sore parts of the hedgehog's neck. Then it moved to his cheek and wiped away a tear. If was like whoever was under his to was trying to apologize. Once he was able to calm down, Shadow had to say something; it was on his mind for a while.
"Why am I here?"
The claw on his face moved back down to his torso and gently held it tighter. Shadow felt a head lean again the back of his own. A voice whispered into his ear.
"I've missed you, Shadow."
Shadow was shocked. He knew that voice. He knew it very well, even though it had been years sense he heard it. More tears emerged from his eyes.
"Mephiles…"
Suddenly, Shadow felt very tired again. He tried to stay awake, but he was getting weaker by the second. He didn't want to leave! It had been years sense he heard the dark speak to him. Shadow promised they would be together, and he NEVER broke a promise!
"I'm sorry Shadow. You must awaken."
"Awaken?" Shadow managed to ask through his drowsiness.
"You see, in reality you are asleep right now. I am in another place. You must awaken, so you can find me."
Knowing what had to be done, Shadow relaxed a little. He was able to ask one more thing.
"Where are you?"
Shadow heard one last thing before he slipped from consciousness.
"I am where you first found me."
